Third brake light

has anyone tried swapping the bulb out of the third brake light on the trunk lid? What kind of bulb does it use and how do you remove the socket? Ive been at it all week but still no luck.

There's a DIY on putting the RX-8 logo in the brake light. If memory serves me right, there were very comprehensive instructions on how to remove and disasseble it.
