strakes help

yes ive searched and ive been here for a while.

anyway following a diy thread on the correct placement of the strakes i still cant get the top one to sit level. it seems that it sits slightly higher at the rear. ive tried to move and adjust them with no better results.

as i said i searched and found several templates in the diy section but it still doesnt help. any clues guys?

thanks jesse

Wasn't a problem for me. Each strake mounts with 2 screws, right? Which ones did you get?

Hmmm. I have the stainless steel strakes from them, and they mount with 2 screws, plus some sticky pads on the ends that touch the paint. I found plenty of slop to adjust the angle, before tightening down the screws.

Maybe you could enlarge the hole in the grille that the nipple engages?

Nice, but not into strakes and chrome. Maybe strakes that's not chromed will do for me.

Well, stainless steel in this case. I love it on my SS.

Rotary FX also sells darkened strakes that might suit you more.

Is it a CF wrap, or are the strakes actually molded from CF? I'm thinking that the "nipple", instead of second mounting bolt, is why you can't adjust the angle of attack.

It's been a couple of years, but I'll check and see if I still have the mounting guide when I get home tonight. If I do, I'll scan and post it tomorrow, Xero.

On both sides, or just one? If on one side only, it might be a mis-aligned mounting hole.

Xero, sorry but I couldn't find my strake literature.

200, shoot an email to RotaryFX (assuming you got them there). See if they have any suggestions. I'm puzzled that yours have just one mounting screw, while the stainless version has two per strake.
