To strake or not to strake?

I have a black RX8 with red/black interior, rotary accents, and appearance package. Do I put on the polished fender strakes or do I leave the side of the car alol black? Can't decide.

The strakes finish off the side profile of the 8.
Without them, the plastic vent looks cheap IMO.

NHguy:

Not to make your 8 look like mine (black 8 here with red/black interior), but I have a set of black strakes and they look awesome! PM if you are interested in joining us on a Fall Run coming up.

Thanks,
Kevin

Ya gotta strake it ... see these for alternatives to the OEM strakes:

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-exterior-appearance-body-kits-27/oem-colored-strakes-38773/

and

https://www.rx8club.com/dls-customs-closed-89/rx8fun-products-pricing-37845/

... we can custom finish something or duplicate the OEMs or even provide 3 per side ... for alot less money than the OEMs.

OK I have to weigh in here, just so its not unanimous. I personally am Anti-Strake. They look like an attempt at "retro," which doesn't fit this car IMO.

I'm pro-strake and say go for it. Especially if you have the front/ rear accents.
Pics of strakes on my black 8 here

I likethem on darker colors like black and green maybe even blue and red. I dont think Id put them on yellow silver or titanium though.

Strakes look very nice. I would not go with black strakes on a black car - they will not show. Get the polished aluminum-look and definitely go with derwankel's (RX8fun) offering since those are a lot cheaper than the factory accessories but look just as good.

They look every bit as good on a stock sunlight silver RX-8.

They definitely look better on ALL colors in my opinion.

I never liked the look of the side air vents much on the 8. The strakes make all the difference in the world. Which is why I ordered a set from RX8fun this morning!

I got my black strakes from Antichristpm quite a while back. I think they look great against the black body. Here's a few pictures for you nay-sayers :p

I wasn't all that sure I liked the strake look till I saw a set in person. *I* really liked them. But ultimately I think you should buy what YOU like.

my10ae, your pics are nice but they still don't change my opinion: black strakes on a black car don't show... :p

I'm going for the subtle look. If you want flashy, then yes black strakes on a black car will not work
