Stock spoiler or R3 spoiler?

What's going on fellas'? I was hoping someone here can tell me about the R3 spoiler. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the R3 trim was released in 2009 correct? Is it true that the R3 has it's own unique spoiler? I'm asking because as far as I know, the only official Mazda OEM spoiler is the one that is currently on my 2007 RX-8. Then I read in another topic that if someone was to buy a Mazda spoiler, that they should go with the R3.

My questions are, is there an R3 spoiler that's different than my stock spoiler from 07? Was it available before 2009? Were there any other Mazda spoilers available for the 2007 models?

Again, my car is an 07, and I want to keep it with as many parts of the same year as I can which is why I'm asking these questions. I'd appreciate ANY help. Before anyone says this, I did search. There didn't seem to be much info on this R3 spoiler, if it even exists. Thanks!

It's actually an available accessory for all automatic Series II. So technically, it's a Series II spoiler, it just comes standard on R3's and lip spoilers come standard on the manual transmissions that are not R3s. I say go for it. What color is your RX-8? They may make a prepainted one already.

Thanks for the replies. So years 04 - 08 had one single OEM spoiler used between all trims, that was more curved than second gen. Years 09 - 11 had an OEM spoiler that was more flat than first gen, as well as a lip? Is that correct?

Does anyone have any pics of them or even some comparison photos? I'm about to hit up google but I figured I'd ask here because you guys are the best source of info on the net. Thanks again.

If you really want to get technical.........

There's the Series I wing spoiler. 2004-2008
There's the Series II wing spoiler, came standard on R3s but also available as an accessory.
There's the lip spoiler (only on manual transmission Series II in the US, but was available for Series I & II in other countries)
Then there is the Mazdaspeed spoiler.

Plus the whole bunch of aftermarket spoilers available.

Just get an aftermarket spoiler that will cover the oem holes. You will have to drill new holes for it, but you could cover some of it. Good luck.

You should be able to find a spoiler that direct fits the OEM holes. If not, do some body filling on it. Or, if you don't have the experience with that, do a backyard-type sealer on it. As long as the aftermarket one covers up the old holes, you won't have to worry about appearance, just 'sealance' per say.
