Question Side Aero Flare Template

Hi everyone,

I'm installing the Appearance Package today, and I've done the air dam, which was a piece of cake. I'm now on the side aero installation at the part where I'm supposed to line up the template to mark the hole. However, it doesn't seem like the template really matches the shape of the wheel well. If I align the template to the bottom edge, the top portion is off... and likewise if I align the top (the narrow section), then the bottom edge is off. I'm just not confident at this point to drill the hole. I put the flare up to the car and it doesn't seem like the hole matches the point on the template. Hopefully, this makes sense to someone!

Any tips on getting the template on correctly?

Thanks so much for any suggestions.

I had the same problems too. I just used adhesive and there's not problems since. I know there are a couple of guys that didnt drill holes and everything is fine.

Hmm, I considered just using the adhesive, but I could just imagine that in a couple years the tape might give up.

Anyone else?

Okay... well, I don't see any reason why one couldn't just put the flare up to the car, mark the hole where it meets the inside of the well and assure good fitment.

Any negatives to this idea? I'm sure I'm not the first to consider it, but I've searched the entire forum in length and haven't found a whole lot of info on using (or not using) the templates.

I did mine 2 days ago using that method.Problem was a poor fitment due to the bottom clips--I had to elongate the 2 slots about 1/4 in with a utility knife.I then drilled the hole in the inner fender.I also put double sided tape on the four fitments for clips which are supposed to be fitted in 4 holes drilled in the sill.

Well the thing is, I used double-sided tape and put it on the templates,(so that when doing the fitment the templates would stick on the car) but when drilling the holes and trying to fit the 4 plastics clips, it didnt fit correctly. I spent 3 hours doing it and i just gave up. The great thing about tape is you can always re-tape it.

I ve had my side areo flares with the adhesive for 3 months now and its been through rain, and humid weather.

Thanks for the responses on this.

I was able to get them on Saturday without any major problems; however, the pass-side flare didn't seem to fit as well as the other one. The front part of it wouldn't conform to the side of the car very well. It seemed like it was just mis-shaped a little and not curved enough -- so the tape would not hold the very tip of it on. I'm considering calling the dealer for a replacement.

Anyone else have minor fitment issues like this? I'm just **** about it and don't want any gaps.
