Shine Auto Project review
3 Attachment(s)
First of all, let me just say that ken at Shine Auto Project was very helpful. As for the kit itself it fit very nicely with only a couple minor issues which I will describe in detail, most of them are nit picky.
First of all, all 4 pieces shipped in your standard size body kit box (~9'x3'x2'). All 4 pieces were heavily wrapped in bubble wrap and very well protected. First of all, there was a minor imperfection in the carbon fiber directly below the drivers side headlight. It's hard to see in this picture, but it kinda looks like a pock mark. Attachment 232642 The passenger side corner marker's fitment was a bit off, but not enough to split hairs over. Attachment 232643 Fitment around the headlights was a little off as well, there's a gap underneeth them as though the bumper is "drooping" at that particular spot. Attachment 232644 The rear bumper has no fitment issues that I noticed. Overall, it needs a little bit of TLC, specifically a grill for the 3 air intake holes in the front and 1 in the rear bumper, and a 4th tail light for the rear bumper. The biggest issue I have with the front bumper is that it isn't reinforced at all. The body shop had to delete my fog lamps because there wasn't anything sturdy enough on the bumper to mount them to. It's fine at the curves and in the front but inside the holes where it's just a flat piece of CF it's very flexible, and that will make installing a grill difficult if not impossible. I'm thinking I might be able to fix it with epoxy foam. However, all in all this is a high quality product. Looks alright to me. Anyway, nice car, but you need a drop though, that wheel gap is horrendous.

Yep, like I said it's mostly nit picky. I just wish it was more ridged.

The passenger corner look pretty bad. At the front of the turn signal and then at the bottom it looks like it is crooked and partially covers the side marker. I also noticed in your other thread the side skirts seem to have some imperfections. Seems the body shop could have fix all of this though at not much extra cost.
Question on the side skirts. Do you have any gap along the sides that meet the body? Did you use double sided tape to mount the skirts? |
Looks good compared to your first body kit story if I remember correctly. Something about a truck...
Is your hood real carbon or wrapped? |
Real carbon from Vis Racing. It looks fantastic.

Is it because I'm not an American? |

Does anyone know if Ken is still alive? I've been trying to contact Shine A.P. for a while now. Is there any other way to contact them on, tried eBay, email and on the website...

I really am jealous of your kit. Just wondering, what is the material shine auto uses for their body kits? I guess after I saw the price of their products I lost interest but knowing I have an extreme dimensions peice of garbage, I am pretty sure I will be buying another bumper in the near future.

as i said in another thread.... make a custom alum bracket that connects to the oil cooler brackets for the foglights.
|
(I understand this is an old thread but since it was bumped...)
I agree with pdxhad: that side marker fitment is pretty rough but THAT HEADLIGHT fitment... :scared: I would have had the shop fix that before leaving, that's an eyesore |
