As is usually the case this is probably a repost or something i should have found while searching, so im sorry if it is but i what i found was not specific to what i needed. So heres my question I got that seibon cf ks style hood and i hear that you don't actually need hood pins with it although when i bought it they told me they were required. How are you supposed use the latch if it doesn't come with one?? Also i noticed that one of the larger vents on the front is directly on top of the (+) terminal of the battery. Can this be good, i mean what if it rains or lets say if i wash my car and water gets on it then i try to start it? As you guessed i did try to wash my hood and when i started the car everything died. I poped the hood wiped everything down gave it a half an hour then tried again and it started normally. anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

 

no need for hood pins and you re-use the oem hoods latch......should be a direct bolt in same as all other cf hoods....your oem battery should have a plastic cover over it

 

Yeah, the battery cover should prevent the battery from getting wet, at least i'd hope so or else everyone with vented hoods would be screwed!

 

thats one of the sharper vented hoods, I think mostly because they took out the rotary symbol from the hood. It would be nicer if there was some venting over the engine instead of where it's located now... or am I missing something?

 

i was thinking about that... . i wasgoign to talk to shops to see if they would create a Cf hood like the OEM hood.. with the rotary shape in the middle.. but that rotary symbol will be vented instead.. just not sure how well that would work if you got a turbo or something.. .and it rained..

 

Skip the Gemini hoods are alot loike what you are describing. I almost bought one but got a Veilside D1GT CF hood instead.
The vents on my hood are almost directly over the engine (just a little forward). I run without my engine cover on and at stoplights, I kid you not, I can see heat waves rising up out of the vents. If you put your hand over the vents you can feel the hot air current even after the car is shut off. I have no doubt my engine runs cooler and stronger with the new hood.

 

I thought it was posted somewhere that the plastic hoods actually channel air when you are at speed and thus cool the engine. Though in stop and go / slow traffic a vented hood would probably be waaaaaaaaaaay better.

Perhaps there is a way to keep the front part of the plastic cover to guide the air and remove the back part to improve low speed venting.

 

Thanks for all the input guys, i put on the old latch just like you said except i had to use 10mm bolts instead of the 12mm that were on the stock.

 

Yea I have the same seibon ks hood and I notice that the vents are right on top of my batterie and intake.. My 8 is a daily driver so I would like to know if anyone had trouble in the rain or anything???
