Ruined Veilside V1 Underspoiler
Well, this piece is officially destroyed now. Apparently, it was designed around the stock exhaust tips. I have the Racing Beat exhaust, and as you can see from the pictures, the heat/proximity of the tips was just too much. It actually burned right through the piece, not just the paint. Let this be a warning to others out there about this piece. This sucks it, and sucks it hard, because I really liked the way it looked.

Dude that looks real bad! Good thing you removed it before it did any real damage to your 8.
How long did it take since you installed it before it got that bad?

I noticed the paint bubbling when I drove it home from the body shop. It was probably on for a week or so before it had done all of that damage. I'm leaning towards the Mazdaspeed rear at this point.

I've had no problems with the pipes burning the stock bumper. I am operating here under the assumption that the MS rear still uses at least part of the stock exhaust openings. Is this true, or does it replace them completely?

That really sucks big time! I feel for you... especially since I´m on my way myself of bying one of the Veilside rear spoilers. Couldn´t this meltdown be because Veilsides rear spoliers "surrounds" the exhausts, while the MS and others leave it open under it? Or is it just becuase it´s an aftermarket exhaust? I really don´t feel like paying that money for a rear spolier that could melt because of the heat...

Holy
I've kept an eye on mine since installing the greddy - those tips are hyoooge. Absolutely no problems at all and to my recollection the MS rear wraps around the stock bumper pieces that encompass the exhaust tips.
I think your combo of MS rear & Veilside side skirts will look nice.
Did I read you correctly - it took 1 week to burn through after your install?

Correct. About a week. Maybe less. Like I said, the paint was already bubbling after the 45 minute drive home from the body shop that did the install.

A friend had their stock rear black section painted and it started to bubble after a few days. He solved this by getting the exhaust surrounds, however I doubt they will fit in any of the aftermarket bumpers. A decent metalshop could build something however, but would need some kind of lining to stop the heat transfer into the FRP.
