Angry Rotary Valve Stem Cap Thieves

Well, I knew it was only a matter of time... Last might somebody nabbed two of my caps. I normally screw them down tight so it takes a good amount of effort to get them off, but they managed to jack the two on the drivers side - out of view from my window.

What really bugs me, is that youi cannot get the original ones anymore. Oh well, back to ugly black plastic caps.

Any body want to part with theirs?

Sorry to hear that.

I have had two sets of generic metal valve stem caps, and twice they were stolen in the parking lot where I work. Gave up, and am now using some cheapo caps with plastic Mazda logos on it.

i've had my oem caps stolen at work as well. and, yah- it sux

mazda only sells the black oem valve stem cap with each TPMS unit, at the sound of $120 a pop. so, if u want all 4 caps to match, you'll eiither have to pay the big bucks for the TPMS' or have to buy a new set of ugly generic ones.

i ended up finding some really inexpensive curled aluminum valve stem caps that match the color of the oem rim nicely in a small tire pressure kit they sell at autozone for about $5 bucks i think. if u can't buy the rotary caps, then u should go check em out and see how u like them.

That is incorrect. Mazda does sell them, because mazda makes them. Go to their site: http://accessories.mazdausa.com/commerce/AccessoriesCatalog?selectedModelId=11772&selectedM ajorCategoryId=11781&vehicleCode=RX8 They're $39.00, set of 4.. (Part #:F151-V3-835)

^Those are close to the originals, but are different. Mazda changed their design, and I cannot get them anymore. I can only get what you guys are posting. I'm in Denver this week, and can post a pic later.

I removed the two they could not remove, because I had them screwed on tighter than those punk kids to handle.

I have these, in plain version (no lettering). They look fine, but I figured I don't really need them.
If someone wants them, I'll sell them for $20 shipped. They are in perfect condition. I only had them on the car for the last two weeks or so and hardly drove during this time at all.

well, as i stated in another thread i started about this topic.....i finished making my rotary valve caps THEFT PROOF. to recap, i installed tiny set screws into the side of the cap, so when the cap is on the car, you tighten down the set screw as extra holding protection. i hope this works...... ill try to take pics of my work if anyone wants to see.

if you get them again you can give them a soft twist with a socketwrench so they can not be removed by hand, thats what i do to mine

I have the cheaper ones along with the license plate ones. Matter of time but sure they will get jacked. When I was a kid I had dice on my BMX Kuwahara stolen and found the kid who jacked em'. I confronted him and was going to beat his *** but he started crying in front of all his friends. Hope I run into him again when he's 40 and refresh his memory lol!

Nemesis8,

Try the rotary valve stem caps made by rotary13b1.com.

http://www.rotary13b1.com/valve_stem_caps.html

They are nice looking and half the price of the OEM caps. Unfortunately, they may get stolen just as easy. You might want to only use them on special occasions. Mine were stolen too
