Remove adhesive from taillights
The PO had this terrible tinting crap glued onto the taillights. I just pulled off all that and I'm left with a layer of sticky adhesive. I tried acetone. It kinda works but doesn't get it completely clean and takes forever.
Any advice how to get it clean? :Wconfused Thanks in advance |
Nail polish remover works well just dont get it on your paint. Or paint thinner.

Yeah I was trying acetone nail polish recover and it was just making the adhesive ball up. I'm going to try a combo of that and a hair drier tonight.

WD-40 and patience, acetone will eat the plastic. also try wax and grease remover like DuPont 900. this stuff eats everything but cured plastics like paint and rubber. WD-40 is the easiest and will probably do the job

Thank you. It's been 78 here all day and I'm hoping it softened up enough to get it all off using the wd40.

I agree with the previous posts, do not use paint thinner or nail polish remover. My brother used them to remove tint off his tails and it just cracks the he'll out of the plastic.

When I went to get tint removed from my windows for inspection I asked the installer to have a go. He softened the adhesive up with ammonia and scrubbed the hell out of them. They are great now.
