Red Calipers

You can get a milky white liquid that you paint (a thin coat) across metals to prevent them from rusting. My dad used to do that on our bikes years ago. I don't recall what the liquid was though.

I did paint the rotors with hi-temp paint. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a temporary fix though. They rusted at the edge where the paint meets the area the brake pads touch (see pic in my post above).

woah hold up... first of all, looks sick... but im curious, you powder coated it yourselffff? thats crazy. how hard is it? you dont mention how much the gun or whatever costs and all that stuff... is it feasible for a talented consumer, or do you like work in a powder coating shop or something??

i'm only 3.5 hours away (in Northern KY near Cincy)
I can do a lot of the work myself, the only concern is the caliper rebuild...never done that before. How difficult was that, and was there any specialty tools required? Instructions come with the rebuild kit?

No, its not wo bad at all. The hardest part is braking the caliper down. Like I said there is a tiny o-ring seal behind the cylinder. That was a b!tch to get out. The "rebuild kit" consists of 5 rubber seals. No instructions at all. Me and the friend of mine just shot in the dark.

I didn't see any pics, but did you powder coat the rear calipers too?
It seems like that might be more complicated to break down...but maybe a complete disassembly isn't necessary??? Just the boot and piston removed?
