Jedi54 08-12-2012 10:30 PM

those things are shit.
do a search, someone recently posted about them.

SayNoToPistons 08-13-2012 12:33 AM

I swear I saw a thread on these just two days ago and how they fit like shit. Shitty Ings+ replicas.

Hesselrode 08-13-2012 12:33 AM

I've searched every shroud and diffuser thread on here ad can't find what ur talking about. Maybe you could post a link? Did find that I really like the fabulous bumper and the rmagic diffuser though.

Hesselrode 08-13-2012 12:51 AM

Found it, I'm gonna try my luck with them. I'm pretty good at fitting replica kits and stuff. Here is the link to the other thread, for any future lookers.

Are you sure you want to buy them?

This is what a RX8er posted in that other thread about these shrouds

After a week I contacted them asking for a tracking a number. Never got a reply. Waited another 4 days, sent another message for the tracking and letting them know I'm going to file a claim. Never got a reply. After 2 weeks of no communication, no shipping info, and my prompt payment, I had to file the claim for my money back.

DAVIDERON 08-13-2012 03:19 AM

like rear bumper shrouds

ya..I like these as these are important parts of cars...both for protection and look...:wink2:

Hesselrode 08-13-2012 08:57 AM

Yeah I read that. I can get my money back no problem if I don't get them. I'm going to paint them when I paint my ms replica bumper. I just need some side skirts now but haven't found what I'm looking for.

enzogi 08-13-2012 09:25 AM

I have them and not fit perfectly you need to put some screws

Chrishoky 08-13-2012 09:26 AM

These are pretty ugly, but i hope they work out for you fitment wise

Hesselrode 08-13-2012 09:44 AM

Looks a lot better on this picture.

Yeah except the ones in that pic are real legit pieces that will fit right and be made of durable material, not crap like the ones you want to buy.

oh geez here we go again :icon_no2:

durable? seriously? why should these be durable? unless you are a mad driftr skillz yo and wall tap while drifting, these dont need to be durable.

They are 70 bucks, if you get rear ended any shroud will have to be replaced whether it is made from ebay frp, or ings frp. Id rather buy a ebay rep for 70 bucks shipped than the authentic ings for 531.11 shipped.

AS FAR AS FITMENT GOES.... i agree 100%.

Though, the replicas could probably be made to fit as good as the authentic for less than $461.11

From the one ebay rep ive seen, the fitment is depressing. Ill photoshop that pic above to show what it really looks like from what ive seen.

The noobs overflowith.

They need to be durable because they are near hot ass exhaust so if they are made of cheap ass shit (like most ebay rx8 body kit stuff i have seen in person) then they will melt and discolor easily. And if fitment is off then how will they be secured? I wouldn't be worried about getting rear ended, I would be worried about them blowing off at speed.

And getting them both painted, fitted, and properly secured by a proper body shop will cost you about what the INGs cost.

EricB 08-13-2012 10:26 AM

the one i saw in person had been using it for months i think if not more with no discoloration, only a small hole in the inside that can be patched with fiberglass, even our oem shrouds melt.

the fitment is flush with the car, the part that is not like the authentic is the plastic shroud piece that mates up with the center plastic. It sticks out about 1/2 inch further out than the oem.

Basically all someone needs to do is take a cutoff wheel and saw off that 1/2 inch towards the top where it doesnt look right and then patch it in with fiberglass.

Getting them painted for me is not an issue, because i know someone who will paint for 20 bucks plus the cost of paint, and i can use fiberglass myself. In my situation it would be cheaper to buy the replica.

hassle free? no way in hell. Cheaper? yes.

9krpmrx8 08-13-2012 10:28 AM

My stock shrouds don't melt :dunno:

Mine melt like an ice cream cone on a hot day. I have to trim them to prevent it from happening.

That's a result of a poor exhaust configuration setup, not the shrouds themselves.

it has alot to due with what exhaust you are running.

The hks/rr single can melt a hole if you make the tip stick out too much, also melts the shroud towards the front of the car, the pipe comes pretty close to it.

my friends AP exhaust melts his shroud.

i dont think my friends RB exhaust melts his shroud.

9krpmrx8 08-13-2012 10:48 AM

Like I said.

Hesselrode 08-13-2012 12:41 PM

I can make it fit no problem, I wanted the general census on if they looked good. I got a replica ms front bumper and fits perfect now. Awaiting to paint it.
