RE Amemiya LED Tail lights
 

Found these tail lights, and while they are quite expensive, I think they look fantastic. I'm just unsure of the difference between the "CF" and "GF" versions. I'm assuming CF means carbon fiber and GF means glass fiber? An odd way of saying fiberglass.

Honestly I think the listing is just wrong because if you look at japanparts.com they list two versions but it's CF and FRP .

the Carbon ones are great, I have a set but like most Japanese (or any) CF aftermarket part be aware that they usually only have a gel coating on them that will eventually fade or yellow over time when exposed to the elements. I had my shop remove the gel coating and clear coat the CF.
They're not cheap but they do look awfully nice and you'll never have to worry about these filling up with water like the OEM taillights.

Let's see if anyone gets the reference

Ooh thanks for the info. What is the difference between CF and FRP? I don't know if it's the camera angle or what but the picture of the white RX8 seems to have the taillight surround look a little darker than yours do in the pic. I like that dark look, so maybe it's the FRP version?

FRP = fiberglass.
Nah, it's just a crappy picture that I posted makes them look lighter. The description on the japanparts listing even states the picture is of a CF version. I'll see if I can find a better picture of mine

Oh wow, gonna have to find a shop I can trust with clear coating those lights. I bounce back between AZ and CA, would you recommend a shop? I'm near Edwards AFB, but am willing to travel, would not want to risk the lights getting ruined.

Those look soooo amazing, thank you. I'll definitely get the carbon fiber version.

Would you happen to have any pics of what the lights look like when they are lit or when brakes are applied?

I'm terrible about remembering to take pictures of my own car but I probably have something with the lights on. Let me see if I can find anything...

okay, I caved and looked.
found them in the Purely partout group. $1200, located in MA.

I just found out today they are custom made and take around 4-6 months to make. I just worry a bit about buying such a high dollar cosmetic item, used.
