Please for the love of god don't buy one unless you have money to blow...I can't stand when I see people your age wanting an Rx8...they're great cars, they really are...but be logical...you will spend a lot on maintenance...This is a high maintenance vehicle...I don't want to crush your dreams...I remember being in your position...But I waited 5 years until I could afford it on my own...You have a ton of factors to take into account.
Research all of the troubleshooting threads here first.

Research more...Seriously.
At least get a compression test first...It will run you about $300, give or take depending on the dealership you go to...But better than buying the car and immediately dropping at least $3700 because you need a new engine.
Is it automatic or standard?
What number engine is it on?
When were the coils, plugs, and wires last replaced?
How many miles are on the car?
Are they mostly city or highway?
If you don't know the answers to those questions, you're already at a bad start.

Also, if you're wanting it simply based on looks, that's a horrible reason.
What are other key features you love about the car?...What makes them so unique?...This isn't just a car man...
Just read through everything before you make any purchase...You'll appreciate the information.

To add to this...Making your car look quicker (not faster...there's a difference) than it is is just stupid.
I hope you drive a few first...Don't be like some people here that buy the car because it looks good, then get upset that they can't beat a v8 in a straight line.

So say you get one for 11k .. because I wouldn't touch one for 6k. Are you ready to drop another 4-5k on a new engine at a moment's notice? If you can, great, read up on this forum and go for it. If you're not... get another car for the same price that won't put you in that situation.

IM not looking to really race Lol its just really nice looking car and its cheap Main Reason why i want it i understand the mainteance it takes and everything and the precautions MY Dad is a mechanic so he can help me just really wanna know how much it would be lol the main topic i still have a couple months
Grrrrr!
You teenagers are going to give me a heart attack here.
Most Mazda techs don't even know **** about an RX8.
Dude...Don't buy it based on looks...that's incredibly dumb...Go buy another good looking car that doesn't have a flock of enthusiasts who actually appreciate its uniqueness...Not because it looks cool.

Another thing you just said that scares me...Just because your dad is a mechanic doesn't mean he knows a damn thing about a rotary engine!
Grrrrr!

Then go for it...As long as you plan to learn every little thing about this car...I promise you...It will cost you...Hell...Spark plugs alone are about $25 each...All I'm saying is, be realistic...You're 15...Don't rely on your parent's money because you want a high maintenance toy.
This shouldn't be a first car in my opinion...but if you honestly believe you can pull it off, go right on ahead.
