Question about Mazdaspeed spoiler plz help
I was just wondering if anyone had the factory spoiler, and changed it to the mazdaspeed spoiler? The reason is because i'm scared that the holes fom the old spoiler wont match the new one. If this will be a problem please, I need to know. Thanks everyone.

I will probably have the dealer install it, so I will use Trussville as a negotiating tool to get the same price (although I will have to pay tax on it if I buy from the local dealer).

That said, we all know that dealer's don't always do the most logical thing.

let's say we already have a factory spoiler but wanna take it off cuz we don't like it.. what can we do to cover up those holes? i never wanted my spoiler but it was the last blue one they had left

vmanx, the EASIEST thing to do is find someone who has a base RX-8 or one without the app package and has no spoiler. Offer to swap trunks with them - they get a spoiler out of the deal, and you get a trunk with no holes.

Someone asked that very question before, and was successful in swapping trunks.
My car came with no spoiler, but that was due to the fact that mine came with only two options: GT and Navigation. I didn't need or want anything else. If you had asked me to swap, I would have done it since the MS spoiler also needs those holes.

this sux now i have to drill two more holes to properly fit the ms wing. apparently you can reuse the oem spoiler holes, but the wing wont be pushed up against the trunk enough and have a gap if you look underneath.

Interesting info. Everything that I have read, including posts here, indicated that you could use the same holes from the OEM spoiler.
What do you mean about "won't be pushed up against the trunk enough"? I'm just trying to visualize what the problem is.
I hope it works out without too much difficulty.

I think I see what you are saying. Are you talking about the "lip spoiler" portion of the MS spoiler (the part that sits flat agains the trunk)?
If I were in your position, I would consider putting the OEM spoiler back on and having your dealer install the MS spoiler.

yep the one that sits on the trunk.
i sold my oem.
im going to try fillin the holes and redrill new ones. the spoiler seems to cover them anyways. plus i dont want to pay extra just for them to drill new holes.
i'lll try and take pictures tommorrow to show what i mean...

So how did it come out?
I don't have a spoiler. I will be getting the MS spoiler. Is it easy do you yourself, or would you recommend having the dealer do it? Obviously I don't have to worry about matching it to pre-drilled holes.

well it covered the holes on the outside...inside it something different have to patch up. i think it may have taken me a hour or two to install. probably because it was night time. i think it's pretty straight forward just a little more time than your ordinary spoiler. i'd recommend installing with another person. careful of your back, i think i leaned over too much trying to screw in all screws. ack
