Question about the Mazdaspeed Rear Diffuser Add On

I went through the manual, but do we cut anything past where the shrouds used to be. I know half of the fake mesh is cut off along with half of the rotary triangle, but is there anything to cut to make it line up straight?

All the pics I have seen, no ones takes a top down pic of the bumper with the speed diffuser>

Should there be any gaps or should it fit perfectly?

It's a little cloudy, but I think the cut does not go beyond the shroud. The cut is only in the center part. I did trim closer on the corners. And honestly, as long as you cut at least half the the fake mesh, you're good, because the diffuser hides all imperfections anyway. It should fit right up to the bumper. There should be no gaps.

if you have it installed and you are seeing small gaps on the top edge of the diffuser where it hits the bumper.. about 2 inches toward the center from the exhaust. that is normal..

all real ms rears do that.. why i dont know..

but they do..

Mine fits a little bit better than that. It has a small gap between the "N" and the "O" in Swoope's pic post. It is about an inch long and about 1mm away from the bumper. Mine actually fits real snug.

I assume for HALF a bumper that we pay well an arm and leg for, and it being stock fit, it should fit perfectly. Sigh.

Thanks for the replies, thanks for posting the pic swoope.

I'll try to snag some pics, but mine touches the bumper. Initially it didn't, a tad less gap than Swoope's, but I did a little more trimming on the corners where the shrouds would be.

no problem.

it is not noticeable unless you are looking for it. why it is that way i do wonder.

but really the rest of the fit is perfect. and it is a very nice looking rear. well it is the only one i like.

and btw, it is a damn easy install. you just have to get over sawing off half you old stuff!

bump for an old thread. i have the exact same gap and it really, really bugs me. anyone still around that can provide details about where else they cut?

I can't seem to tell what's preventing this from fitting right other than the curvature of the actual bumper...!
