after about 6hrs of filing, sanding, and filing, after these pics there was about an hour more of messaging and filling and sanding...

not bad, gives it a slightly more aggressive look. kinda like a canard.

^^^ did someone say canard??? workin on that too, but only have about 5 hours of build time in it, have to build up the thin wall a little bit at a time.. progress on that below VVV

I would use screws or clips from the inside.

Yeah ideally I would want them in CF but the radius is too tight for a wet carbon lay. Ill be printing two sets of prototypes one for this design then the second I will file the radius down so I can lay CF, I have thought about using our vaccumm casting machine to draw the CF tighter into the mold... we'll see.... stay tuned...

i am interested in these--they should be a must have for the fi boys--if you need a beta tester for temp comparison let me know.

You know Denny I was thinkin youd might wanna test them out,,, I deffinately need someone to test out my theory of them being able to draw more air to the oil coolers... Chuck(lurch) looked at them tonite and thought the same thing
With you guys and your data loggers I wonder if it would have an effect??? |
possible--dont know for sure--but anytime you can get more air through the exchanger the usually better it is. just make sure they will hold at 140mph:)

here are some pics of the scanner and scan data... Jim cleaned up the part in geomagic and then made it a watertight solid...
This afternoon we input this data into the printing software and mirrored it... its freakin sweet... we re printing our first prototypes tonite. stay tuned... edit- you can see the slight red line in some of the pics, that is the scanners laser as it passes over the part.. |

Got my prototypes today.... lookin good. there is one issue, the upper fang is a little off(see pics) this is either from the scans picking a 'best of' surface when calculating the geomtry or the printer being off calibration, but im not worrried about it I can correct that with the choice of material when I poor and cast the parts. I will just have to pick a higher durometer plastic to give it some flex....

Aves Epoxie Sculpt- great material, easy to use and no shrinkage whatsoever... Heres some pics of progression, I after these I took the final prototype into work and took pics of it being digitally scanned in 3D(those pics will be added monday) The digital model is being worked on now and will be mirrored and RPed soon,,, enjoy... took about 40 mins to ruff in and then about 7hrs to file down by hand...
