Yes, I seem to have the same problem with my 2004 VR. It's on the passenger door window frame. I will be taking it in to the dealer soon. It looks like silver spots coming up through the paint and clear coat. I hope they don't have to paint the whole door! By the way, I don't think it's sap or anything ON the paint becuase I just used clay bar.

to finish this story of mine the area rep said that the bodyshop had to take pictures of the entire painting process and if the bubbles came back mazda would replace the affected panels. the mazda rep didn't believe the bodyshop was being honest about doing the work (and he turned out to be right).
so they stripped the front fender and repainted. it came back and they replaced the fender w/a new one as per the agreement.
the door however is another story. after they "stripped" the door and repainted it the problem came back. when they asked the bodyshop manager for pics he couldn't produce them. come to find out the bodyshop manager had not been doing as he was asked. he apparently was just wet sanding (or something similar)until the spots went away. SO the last time my car was in the shop he actually did the promised work and spots have stayed away. Just a interesting figure, the bodyshop guy spent at LEAST $1600 on rental cars for me through this entire prcoess. End
AVOID NORTH PARK COLLISON/PAINT CENTER UNLESS YOU LIKE LYING, INFERIOR WORKMANSHIP AND BEING WITHOUT YOUR CAR FOR A MONTH AT A TIME TO PAINT JUST A FENDER AND A DOOR. THEN GETTING IT BACK AND FINDING OUT THEY AREN"T EVEN CLOSE ON MATCHING THE COLORS. I just don't understand how the North Park Service guys can be so good and the Collision guys such fuckups.
BTW: Mazda if you read this I am still very pissed.

Here in the heat of Miami my VR Red is still in perfect condition. I agree with everyone else, you should go to yor dealer and talk to him about this and then, if he doesn't do anything, go to Mazda USA

I have what <Terrypk1> mentions on my 2005 White paint. They will not buff out. Feels like little rocks in the actual paint. I need to get it to the dealer soon. Just purchased this car a month ago.

Regarding Red Auto Paint
I'm not certain where I read this or whether it's reliable info or not, but I vaguely recall reading something saying that red auto paint or any red paint for that matter, oxidizes much faster than other colors and creates more problems. So the protective finish and substrate quality is probably more important to red paint if this is the case.
Thus, I subconsciously avoid red cars even if I want them so bad. I wanted red, but got silver instead.
I think most of the old Toyota FX16 Corollas in red had similar problems. They now sport dull and faded red.
Just to be on the safe side, perhaps red owners should do more waxing - the price of having a hot-looking car.

A little update on my paint problem. I had the little black specs that felt like gravel. I had a paint specialist look at it and he said it appeared to be Rail Dust. Happened while in transit. Mazda had the car buffed by a detailer and most were removed, but there are still some spots. They are not real evident but I know they are there. The dealership told me they would call the local rep again next week.
