lemme just show ya what happened here...


see up at the top, some screws apparently came out up there, causing that piece to bend down and get buffered on the road... now I can't re-attach it cause it's buffered past that hole. I have it secured better now, but it's not a permanent fix. wonderin if that (and by extension most of the other plastic surfaces down there) is neccessary for driving. if so, gunna be hard to get a replacement part?

 

you might have some heating issues if air leaks out of the tray before the radiator, i just recently replaced my undertray and theres a little bit of difference in my coolant temp in spirited driving

 

Gee, why don't you get uber creative and add a bit of something that's attached to both pieces. It may actually be like before with no cost to you. I bet the undertray is quite expensive from mazda.

ps. you're missing some other plastic screws there as well, check you pic.

 

hmmmm.... I could try finding another piece of plastic and attaching it with the remaining sealant from fixing my tail light. not sure if that would be a permanent fix though... I know the dealership is gunna charge an arm and a leg for that, and I just bought tires, so I'd rather not pay out the *** for a piece of plastic right now.

as for the piece itself, it's not the whole undertray that's messed up, it's the part on the left side that is also part of the wheel well.

the missing screws in the pic are for a piece that's not 100% neccessary, though I could put that piece back once I find more of those screws.

 

Drill a hole and use zip tie to secure of you don't mind ugliness.

 

 

that part is only 50 bux from the dealership and takes about 5 minutes to replace

if your really hard pressed for cash, drill some holes in both your undertray and wheelwell peice, and zip tie it together, i did this for about a year before i decided to replace mine

 

$50 eh? more than I'd like to spend on a piece of plastic, but not horrible. can't get a replacement for slightly cheaper online or nething?

 

Zip ties work. When it comes to Mickey Mouse repairs they are about as good as duct tape. If they made carbon fiber zip ties that might be a good look
