Pics of my RX-8 Silver Sports Pkg w/ AP, RA, front mud flap but NO REAR SPOILER

I love this car. I got this on 9/6/03.

Wakka 10-03-2003 09:30 AM

Another shop

Another shot. I just don't like the rear spoiler.

Wakka 10-03-2003 09:31 AM

Yet another shot

MS wing may be OK.

RX-GR8 10-03-2003 09:39 AM

very nice. good luck with it. your front disc looks a little rusty?

Wakka 10-03-2003 09:42 AM

Front Rotor

Yeah, I haven't driven this car since I washed it on Saturday last week.
I'll drive today to Nissan dealership (dropping off my other car: Sentra).

Driver8 10-03-2003 10:17 AM

Very nice! I've got the silver myself and would love to add exactly this set of options.
I agree with you on the spoiler.

cruzdreamer 10-03-2003 10:52 AM

Nice

I am getting the silver one this month......I want to tint the windows but my husband says NO. Can't fight him since I am a stay at home Mom getting a new $30,000 car!!! Hey....I will show him the pics....maybe he will change his mind. He feels it does not need spoiler either. I am 38, he's 52...hmmm, is this an age thing? I guess I can say "he's my old man!" Hee hee.

goodyrx8 10-03-2003 10:59 AM

Is that a UGA flag on your neighboors house?

downshift 10-03-2003 11:33 AM

Very nice shots. With good lighting, the car just shines. Nice angles too. IMO, the RX8 looks best from any side as long as it's taken from an angle slightly above the roof of the car.

Wakka 10-03-2003 11:57 AM

Thank you for your kind comments

Yes, it's a UGA flag. There's a rivary going on among my neighboors: UGA vs USC.

I had it tinted a week ago. Kept it legal (25% all around) since I'm moving to Nashville TN in a month or two. It looks really good.

I'm a firm believer of Appearance Package. I think it makes RX-8 look so much nicer. Plain RX-8 just looks, well, too plain.

I use a bra on this car. Bra for Aero package (Appearance pkg in US) does NOT work well. I had to modify the bra in few places to make it fit "right" so it'll protect the bumper correctly.

Again, thanks for your comments!

Here's another shot.

j_dogg13b 10-03-2003 12:28 PM

Let's see a picture with the bra on. (I never thought that I would say that) I think the car looks great without the spoiler. The AP just makes all the difference. By the way, the last shot you posted is just awesome!

Maximus 10-03-2003 02:12 PM

your car looks awesome with app package and WITHOUT spoiler. good choice. looks to busy to me with app+spoiler.

Wakka 10-03-2003 02:14 PM

OK, here's a pic w/ bra

Bra looks OK. I just hate to see my front end get chipped away.

Wakka 10-03-2003 02:15 PM

another

what is the point of "protecting" the front end from a few dings and dents if the method of protection renders the front end butt-freakin-ugly?

Sucks when that happens, usually after a rainstorm. Calls for zinc plating usually found on aftermarket rotors...still looking...

Maximus 10-03-2003 06:15 PM

anyone tried a clear bra ?

cruzdreamer 10-03-2003 06:29 PM

Good to see....

those pics w/the bra......wondered how it looked. Hate to cover it up too, but those darn rocks and stuff.......the 3M stuff looks to be to expensive to me. It's a nice Bra though....how much was that? Thanks for those pics.

mikeb 10-03-2003 08:13 PM

welcome and congrats
appreance pkg looks great

j_dogg13b 10-03-2003 08:58 PM

IMHO the bra looks a lot better than i thought it would. Although the car looks much better without the bra I can understand why you would want to keep it on there. Regardless, it is a bitchin ride.

Tell us what you really think.

Wakka 10-03-2003 09:58 PM

Any car with Bra looks awful

I think it's a given, that any vehicle with bra on looks awful. I think all bras are afterthoughts of accessory planners. I can't imagine car designers saying "oh, we'll make a car that looks good with and without the bra!!".

I agree 100% that car looks better WITHOUT the bra. I don't think there's a soul on this planet doesn't agree.
The thing is, for us "neat - freaks", little rock chips and bug crap cannot be ignored. I like my "stuff" to be in top shape. I want to keep it looking new as long as possible. Just because automobile is a commodity, doesn't mean I should drive it to the ground.

My last car, 2001 RAV4 (I know, I know...) looked like a new car inside and out. Only thing it wasn't in "like-new" condition was the odometer w/ 36000 miles on it.

Also, I DID NOT BUY THIS CAR FOR THE LOOK! I don't care less what this car looked, as long as it performed the way it does.
I can't see what it looks like when I'm enjoying the sound of new Rotary Engine humming at 9000rpm. I can't see how bra is destroying the front end beauty when I'm drifting the car with DSC turned off.

Let's thank engineers at Mazda for bringing another rotary-powered vehicle, and enjoy their creation.

j_dogg13b 10-03-2003 11:21 PM

I hope that the Rx-8 can somehow fill the void left by your RAV4! J/K

Make sure you take that bra off when you clean the car. Sand and dirt gets built up in it can scratch your hood. Also, if your car sits out in the sun for too long over the years, it can cause uneven fading.
