Does anyone know if it's possible to produce this kind of finish in a DIY procedure.

If it is, does anyone know how?

I'm working up a plan for an ashtray gauge pod, and I'm thinking it'd be nice if it matched the stock finish of the audio console. (also pondering the possibility of making some "shaved"/logo-free b-pillars that won't smudge up so easily)
