pearlescent paint job!
Hey guys, Ive yet to find a single rx8 with a pearlescent paint job, so I'm thinking of going for it.
Any of you guys know anything about it? I hear it's very difficult and expensive, but if your cars already silver as a base, a second color pearled over it (aqua blue) isn't that bad.
Any knowledge? I really like the effect, and im a dr so $ is no consern for me

Im sure Chrism will chime in sooner or later wanting you to go to his paint guy,,,,I have no remarks for a pearl, there may still be some people here with it but it may be difficult to translate through photos...GL

Most of the colors have pearl in them already...the black doesnt.
There is not much to doing it, but of course the whole car has to be cleared. And depending on the guy applying the pearl, you may have to look very hard for the effect...or it may be overwhelming.

If your cars paint is acceptable to you. As in no chips, dents, dings, then all you have to do is wet sand the car and apply the Pearl as per your request and then clear coat it.
The amount of pearl is up to you. It is a per drop/per oz mixture.
Find a competent shop and it should be no problem.

Yeah it was weird to see that someone did that paint job to a stock GT. But the paint job was top notch whoever did it. The jams, engine bay, and everything looked to have been done.

But its getting late, and I just added silver corner lights and im putting new rims on tommorrow. So I think I'll just enjoy my car for now, and paint it next summer that way I'll be able to look around for someone really good.
