painting oil cooler grills?

has anyone does this? I am thinking of getting some but I'm not sure I like the silvery metal look, I always just associate that with honda rice boys.

I just don't know if painting them black would look any better.

I can't decide.

Powdercoating will be better, if you just paint them black you ll get chips and the metal will show through again and probably look worse,,, but I aggree Black grills is always the best way to go,,,

i dont know if you want to put a coating of anything ontop of a device that's meant to cool what's flowing inside of it.

I think the OP is reffering to the RB grill covers, not the actual oil coolers themselves,,,

This is what I ordered (haven't got it yet). Look through his ebay store, you can order the whole front kit or just the oil cooler screens. Powder coating is a $7 option.

I really only want the oil cooler grills and maybe the lower bumper one. I certainly do not want to grill out my standard plastic front grill. looks silly with the non mazda speed bumper.

Don't spray paint the screens. This is what RB screens look like that were spray painted black and been on over 70,000 miles. From afar they are not that bad looking, not worth taking the bumper off to fix.

Did you get the razr version or the regular one?

how do they install? I know you have to take the bumper off but you don't have to drill holes or anything do you?

Powder coat them
The cost will be worth the effort.
Paint then and forget about them.

I got the regular ones

Easy to install, yes you have to remove the bumper, comes with instructions and hardware(Screws, zipties) uses existing mounting points on the bumper

Here is the only pic I found that yu can really see them...

That's why I decided to order the whole set. I thought, it might as well look uniform.
