Painted Rear Bumper

Just 200 miles and already in the body shop...I think Mazda should have done this. What do you think?

Very nice. Do you have any larger pics or from different angles. I might be inspired to do the same.

You know, a Derwankel rear rotary fog light would look right at home back there!

Agreed, Mazda should have done this. I just had mine done like this about 3 weeks ago after the bumper got gouged up during shipping (moved to Germany) They paid for it and it looks much better.

Mine is Nordic Green. When we get some nicer weather and I can wash the car up I'll take some pics if anyone cares to see them.

I will post more pics tonight. I'm not sure why most manufacturers leave body parts unpainted. Most justify the additional $$ spent on a premium model by adding painted door handles, door trim, bumpers, etc? In my opinion, it looked unfinished.

Just get creative without hurting the car's overall sexyness.

I like it ,brings the rear end of the car down lower. It's all a visual effect but it looks good.
Often wondered why Mazda did not finish it with body color. I think they should have.

I suspect it's because the rear of the 8 is its "weakest" side, design-wise—looks a bit too prominent, to some. By leaving the lower part black, it tricks the eye into making the rear seem not so huge. (Like when large people wear black to look slimmer). Just my hunch.
