PAINTED Exhaust Shrouds

2 Attachment(s)
I got bored yesterday so i decided to paint my exhaust shrouds.

i removed them, of course, taped them off, and sprayed 2 base coats of white. i used krylon spray paint, the kind for plastics (fusion i think)... then i sprayed 2 coats of arctic silver... they turned out pretty nice. they are not perfect but still adds another dimension, i think..... and for $7...... it's a helluva lot cheaper then buying the chrome finishers.....

It didn't come out very clean, you can really see how crooked it is, but props anyway for being different.

sstricker 04-05-2006 06:16 PM

yeah i know..... but you can't tell from 5 feet away.... that was on super zoom! lol

Like he said, props for being different, but overall I'd have to say its a no. :nono:

frankcastle123 04-05-2006 09:02 PM

why o why would you do that to your car?

Rotary Rasp 04-05-2006 09:53 PM

If you can't keep the exhaust tips clean, what makes you think that silver won't be black in a month?

sstricker 04-05-2006 09:55 PM

i did it for the hell of it....

and..... my car is not clean because we had tornados and shit 2 days ago.... haven't had time to wash it..... but.... if ya'll dont like it.... that's cool, my car not yours......

Dro 04-05-2006 10:35 PM

:wink2:

JK bud, good try.

kwescott 04-05-2006 10:47 PM

yeah, I'm gonna agree with most...that is was courageous. At this point, buying those chrome ones to try and cover this up won't work, the painted surface goes beyond where the chrome fillers would fit. I'm not going to say whether I like it or not...cause it doesn't matter. Thanks for showing us something new.

Great try at saving $197.00 on the exhaust finishers, but you should have known you were asking for it posting those pics here!

sstricker 04-05-2006 11:23 PM

i wasn't asking for anything to tell you the truth... i posted pics because i like it... i just wanted to show you guys.... i could care less if you like it or not...

i do agree that it is a little crooked.... but you cannot tell unless you're right on it......

can you tell in the farther away pic? i can't..... thanks for the comments guys.... keep em coming....!

Man. Its like every time someone trys something(s) new. People take it like a competition :nono: Just let it be. This is not a "On a scale of 1 - 10".

NgoRX8 04-07-2006 03:08 AM

yup gotta clean your car. the shrouds are like the only light colored part on the car it seems. wash those tips! :) Props for being original

Dro 04-07-2006 07:17 AM

I like my tips durrrty

Umbra 04-07-2006 08:21 AM

Should have bought the finishers :( Maybe if you paint the grid inbetween the two so it looks like it's silver it might look ok, maybe...

FABRO 04-07-2006 09:24 AM

If you get bored again you can take the time to take the paint out of the exhaust shrouds ;)

jstkilntim 04-07-2006 06:12 PM

I wasn't trying to be negative. I love new ideas. Especially if they look good & save money. I guess DOMINION just put it better than I did. Peace!!

If you curve the bottom inside corner it would look more refined.

I give you props for attempting this.

Now trim that bottom inside edge and I think you will see people doing this after you post the new pics. :D

BoosTED 04-08-2006 03:37 AM

Yowsa! Person that put those on their car would be plenty upset if they melted, at that price. :crying:
