Angry Paint job cost

Ok so i went to a few places close to my house to get some quotes and to pqint the 2004 rx8 with a mazdaspeed body kit and spoiler there asking 6.5k + tax for a pearl white. From my point of view that looks a bit overpriced. Need some info on prices.
If anyone knows a good place around montreal quebec canada feel free to let me know the name and ill check it out.

that isn't horrible for a pearl paint job.

If you're talking about an entire car spray then the labor is the real killer.

Whichever place you end up using make sure they give you references and actually go to see the cars, not just pictures.

Ok the guy offered me a outside only or inside and out paint job pearl white. The only reasoni went there is cuz i trust the work. Then changed a wing on my old velocity red rx8 and they managed to match the red perfectly i could not even tell they painted it haha.... So now im a bit confused when he said inside i wanted to know what does that include? Does that mean when i pop the hood open ill see the old *** ugly silver paint? And the doors and stuff?

yes, that's exactly what he means.

Some people don't care if their jams and trim are different colors, for me it would drive me insane.

Prices depend on region and the bodywork that needs to be done. 6.5k from a reputable guy on the East Coast with amazing paint and clear coat is actually a really good price.

6 grande for a whole paint job sounds about right.

I plan on getting my front bumper and hood painted next year but im thinking whether its worth getting the whole car re painted. My front bumper and hood has so many chips from the previous owner and it drives me nuts.

Amen. The annoyance of opening my doors and seeing Blue would eat away at my soul.

My rear bumper is a different color than the rest of my car. Freaking annoying, and it looks horrible.

Should i get the whole car repainted or just hood and front bumper and maybe rear bumper ?

If its the whole car it might have to wait but if its hood, front and rear bumper probably next year.

Decisions decisions

Sorrry to thread jack btw

The sayin still stands "you get what you pay for"

And as for the clear coating i personally would get 5 maybe 6 layers, after color sanding it takes off one coat then when they buff the car it takes off another coat. But the more coats of clear you put on the car the more fagile the clear gets.....

Most paint shops will cover the engine and all other components b4 spraying which is called MISTING and use a little bit of air brushing for the hard to reach spots. but its always best to have the motor and everything else pulled to get that great look unless your on a budget.

Time is Money. And a man's time is expensive.

Painting is expensive. But I've talked to a lot of car owners down here, most of which are teenagers and believe that the internet is still within a big beige box connected to a modem...

anyways the general census is "paint everything". Various reasons: While yes, it's cheaper in the short term. In the long term, unless you'll spend a lot of money for a lot of paint upfront - and keep that paint. Painting at serparate times usually means that two major things happen-
1) The paint will be different - either because someone painted it, or other variables that just plainly I don't care about most days.
2) Most people that try to save money for painting part by part tend to never complete the paint scheme and leave "half" done painting.

I don't know, this is what I was told. I mean ****, my car (under the right lighting) looks like a big jig saw puzzle. It pissed me off so I was looking for something to cover all of this up. :\

I went the vinyl route. do it myself because my fiance won't let me paint my car black :P

If the car has a bit of rust comming out whats the best way to slow it down since i know we cant stop it. I love my car and it hurts me to see rust on it. Also what type of vinyl is used to wrap a car

If it's light rust you can stop it.
If it's on a panel you can replace the panel.

What most real shops do on rusted cars is. strip the chassis to the bone and then put it in an acid bath. It cleans everything...

There are other ways to get rid of the rust spots, they're cheaper but still not cheap.

Even a real complete paint job is really expensive. Taking everything off of the car (engine, transmission, interior etc) requires a lot of time. Bringing the chassis and body panels back to shining steel and aluminium is expensive, too. Paint itself is expensive lol.
Just a little sanding and priming over the older paintjob will look and last like crap. That's why you often get your insurance involved when you have to respray a car...
