I have WB as well and I would never tint my lights. Sort of like smoking cigarettes, makes no sense at all. Sorry.

ferg 03-31-2009 09:14 PM

yeah, but in just looks, i think its clean

myriadshalaks 03-31-2009 09:33 PM

some tints appear dark but let 93 percent light escape. so it's not dangerous, and it looks cool.

ferg 03-31-2009 09:37 PM

my headlights looks really bad with scratch's, like sandpaper marks. that's why i want to cover them and blue seems good with a winning blue rx8

myriadshalaks 03-31-2009 09:48 PM

oh blue tint? no.

edit: well maybe. maybe some clear corners and white gram lights to top off the look.

I actually just got mine's done today. I ordered smoked headlight, charcoal tail lights, and smoked fog lights from rx8strakes.com. It cost me 30 bucks to have someone do it for me and it turned out great. I have a brilliant black btw. Oh and btw the tail light was a pain in the ass and took the longest install for obvious reasons. And if you do order pre-cut overlays, just make sure you or who ever you have doing the job for you that they have to heat and stretch it because even though they're pre-cut; they still come up short around the edges.

i just ordered mine today, from tint world, hes saying cops dont like it alot, i ak why, hes like because they have nothing better to do, well this saturday it will be installed, blue tint on headlights and fog, hope the best!

not to sure what color to do the taillights/?

mscamp02 04-01-2009 05:48 PM

I have a WB and I would like to get mine done, as long as most of the light still passes through

Alexb 04-01-2009 05:59 PM

now, this is just my hatred for all smoked tail lights (except on a friend of mine who has a g35 blacked out tails and a black grille) but I would never do this to my car. Esp, if whoever doesn't does a bad job, it will possibly peel, also, if a rock or something hits your light, it is possible you'll have to have it re-done because it would cut/chip the tint. Anyways, IMHO I would not do this, esp not with blue, there's a reason you don't see blue tinted headlights.... think about it.

myriadshalaks 04-01-2009 06:00 PM

coppers

thats if you get it tinted, couldnt you get it dyed or something

ferg 04-01-2009 06:19 PM

no, the tint that came out is the real stuff for headlights, the blue just came out not to long ago, and its a 3 year warranty with tint world so ill take the chance

vtfanatic69 04-01-2009 07:16 PM

The tail lights I just bought from another rx8 member are painted, so no peeling there. They look great.

I have a VR and I've had yellow overlays on mine for about 2 years now. When I first put them on, my light output had a slight green to it (I think they still do, I just don't notice anymore).. but not so much. But I love em... not a huge difference in looks, but enough for people to notice.

ferg 04-01-2009 09:42 PM

any pics?

romycha1 04-01-2009 10:46 PM

This picture was taken late last year... so they are a little faded... that and I took this pic with my cell phone, so it kinda sucks.

do it but do it lightly if you do.

Flashwing 04-02-2009 01:19 AM

I used a headlight vinyl kit for the better part of a year and a half on my RX8. Since I wanted the blacked out look I used a dark film to start. To ensure I had enough light output, I installed a 55 watt HID kit using 8,000k hids.

First off, using a 55 watt kit in our projector housings isn't a good idea. The amount of excess heat generated caused a melted section of my headlight housings to crack. Also the light output wasn't enough to see very well. It looked AWESOME during the day but I couldn't justify it.

I then switched to a smoked vinyl which produced more light and was still dark enough to go with my look. Still, the problems with my HID's prompted me to replace them with 35 watt ballasts which reduced my light output. I finally had to pull the covers off to get good headlight output again.

If there was some way to put them on and taken them off easily I might have done that. Otherwise it was more trouble than it was worth. It looked great but made seeing at night tough outside the city.

True, but I believe he was speaking about tint?
Idk, dying them is an option, but is that reversible? I wouldn't want to permanently alter a $400 headlight without being sure I LOVED it you know?

just my thoughts.

chrism 04-02-2009 06:00 AM

i had mine tinted yellow a while ago.....it actually helped with seeing at night

treyoh5 04-02-2009 07:22 AM

yellow would look super sick

romycha1 04-02-2009 08:45 PM

I don't remember if my light output changed or not as far as visibility, because I've had them on for so long. All I know, is that I can see just fine when it's pitch black outside.

ferg 04-02-2009 08:48 PM

i cant wait till i get the blue ones installed

romycha1 04-02-2009 09:12 PM

Make sure when you install them, you clean your headlights real good, then wipe them down with alcohal, and to heat up the tint with a hair dryer or heat gun (if you have one).

Some people will just lay the tint on and hope for the best, but I actually squirted some soapy water on the headlight then laid the tint down so I could position it correctly, then squeegee'd all the liquid out.
