NJ New AIT Racing Mint front bumper

I just purchased an AIT Racing Mint front bumper for $175 through a private seller. Was brand new and never painted or installed. Just have to wait for some better weather to get it painted and installed. Also need to get my hands on some side skirts. Anyone looking to get rid of a set?

BTW , forgot to mention this AIT front bumper is actually almost 2 inches lower than factory, so don't know if that's a problem where you live and there's a few potholes if you get what i mean ... I know this because a friend of mine got the same front bumper.. it looks awesome and defenitely NOT a bad choice for the looks, it's very unique ... nice purchase !!!!

Not so worried about potholes being this isn't my daily driver. Do you know if your friends bumper needed to be reinforced or simply bolted up to existing panels?

well i was there when they molded it ... no original holes were on the bumper so they had to be drilled, even for the undertray and sides very simple.... the sides for the corner lights were just a bit off, but nothing that a bodyshop can't adjust very easy....

Thanks for the info. I just contacted a local body shop called Killer Kreations in Philly. They said it would cost between $1000 and $1500 to fit, prep, and paint the front bumper and side skirts. They told me to bring it in and they can nail down a price for me. The problem is the paint is so damn expensive. As you probably know WWP paint is a 3 stage paint. Just got to get some side skirts and pray for some nice weather so them damn pot holes can get filled. Thanks again for your insight.

Didn't say but I am speaking from experience. I was in a fender bender and cracked the stock bumper. The paint cost more than the bumper repair and labor combined.

Contact moderator chism (https://www.rx8club.com/members/chrism-15754/). I believe he is in your area and will have some info on a good shop to use.

I know it sounds a little expensive. But this is an auto body that specializes in customizing, body kits, custom paint, etc. I just didn't want to take the car to some hillbillie and have them f it up.

jeje thanks for the correction.... well it is true body shop rates can differ by the location and who you know... it's always best to eye shop around google and yellow pages, also ask around this website for those near your area for opinions....

well good luck with the mounting and please post pictures on this thread to see how it went .... i love this front also but also the autobahn is quite rough for me to decide what to get !!!!

Cheers !!!

holy crap that's a high estimate for mounting / painting your bumper.
Take Chrism's advice, every car I've seen pictures of that was worked on by Kenny looks amazing.

Well I dropped off the bumper yesterday to get some prep work done. I will be dropping the car off next week to have the bumper fitted. I should have the car back in its transformed condition in about two weeks. Pics to follow. I found a local shop that has alot of experience in installing aftermarket parts. The shop had a photo album of cars they have customized. They appear to do some really nice work. It's going to cost $800 for all who are wondering. This is the cheapest price I could find being that I have the 3 stage paint (White water pearl) As many know pearl tinted paints constitute a 3 stage painting system which cost more than the other colors the 8 is offered in. I will post pics when I get the car back. Stay tuned.

$1500 for the whole car and $800 for the front bumper are comparable. The shop owner told me he would do my side skirts for $200 when I get them. I am not replacing the rear bumper. So all in all it doesn't sound like the price I got is all that bad. And as I mentioned he had an album of cars he had done. He has done alot of custom work. You get what you pay for. Also everyone has to keep in mind I have a pearl paint. You can get a bumper painted velocity red cheaper than getting it painted WWP.

My bad I wasn't sure which other color choices were 3 stage. Just being lazy and not wanting to research before running my mouth.

Damn man at that price you could have gone ahead and bought the Authentic Mazdaspeed Front already painted Brand new, and guess what all you would have had to do is install it and you could have easily done that yourself.

$800 is still a lil steep in my book considering I'm getting a new front bumper painted and lip molded to it for way under that.

Derex'8 just curious where you are purchasing a mazdaspeed front bumper painted for under $800. That seems really cheap.

My front sides rear quarter panels, shaved trunk and spoiler were 1050... Just a heads up from someone who has been in your shoes getting wwp parts painted, the color is really hard to match. After two failed attempts by one of the best shops in mass, they had to sit down and actually paint match the color by hand to get it right. Make sure to look at the car outside not in their garage, this color needs to be checked out in daylight to make sure it's not off..trust me. Good luck man

Shakeyourbrakes thanks for the heads up. I will def. take a look at the car outside. By the way your car looks absolutely nasty. One of the best 8's I have seen.
