How can you tell if you have hid lights or not?

 

Posting a little info about your car might help, but generally speaking if you have foglights from the factory, you have HIDs also.

 

Turn them on. If they have a blueish whiteish tint to it, they are HID. If they just appear yellow then you have normal halogens. Not that hard to tell....

 

Its a 2004 rx8 6 speed. The only thing that made me question it was, because i was looking on a thread and it said somethin like "Taking out hids" I was loking at the pictures and his headlights looked exactly like mine.

 

wont your HL auto level as well if you have hid?

Cause a couple nights ago i was parked backwards on my driveway (HL facing down on street) and when i turned the HL on i noticed that they moved up. lol and another question... if i want to switch to a 6k hid, do i have to convert something or buy a ballast or can i just buy new bulbs and slap em on there?

Auto leveling is a feature of the HIDs. To change HIDs to a different color temp, all you need to do is swap to a different bulb. D2S is the bulb type you want to look for. For example:
