Mazdaspeed bodykit price increase update

I was talking with the parts manager at my local dealership and it looks like the side skirts for the MS bodykit are the first or only pieces to get the rumored price increase. I saw the screen with these prices so I know he wasn't just blowing smoke up my a$$. My guess is that the original price was maybe suppose to be for just one side of the skirts and you had to by one for each side. This is just their way of correcting that mess up. But then again that is just my guess.....

Original prices:

Retail $875.00
Cost $600.00

New prices:

Retail $1722.xx
Cost $1033.xx

Thats a pretty lame move to take an overpriced body kit and make it even more expensive.

How can the at "cost" price go up?
Highly doubt they meant to charge $875 for each side.
Only reason to increase price would be if the demand was great and they were out of stock (which isn't the case).

A lot of MS parts have gone up. The exhaust had a price increase as well. Don't forget, there are currency exhange rates that *may* affect the prices.

actually the side skirts are out of stock (at least in Tit grey) some dealer bought like twelve or so that came in and sold them over seas. Well at least that was what the guy up in mazda told my parts manager.

edit: I know they are out because I'm having to wait till the first part of April to get my side skirts, we call places like Trussville and they are out as well.

Thank goodness I ordered mine from Trussville a few weeks ago! They were out of stock when I ordered but got some in a few days later. Free shipping too! since they match Rosenthal's shipping deal.

Actually, Rosenthal's told me their free shipping on $500+ doesn't include the MS front or MS rear, since they're sent using freight. Wanted about $230 for s/h!

Rosenthal assured me that the price increase is bogus, and that there have been no instructions from Mazda for that price to override the old one.

Probably a computer glitch of some sort.

I'm am flabbergasted at the pricing of the MS kit. That kit is OK, but it really does "nothing" for me. The makers of "knock-off" kits are taking advantage of Mazda's ridculus pricing on the original, and they're asking way to much for theirs as well.

Call me crazy but no body kit is worth more than $1200 to $1500 (tops) to me. I'll probably end up with Veilside's V1 kit, because at least it's reasonable.

Sure am glad I got mine when I did. And Tommy at Rosenthal thought the price increase could well happen... there were other indicators of it being true.

Get a replica if price is an issue -- but I will say that the quality of the MS kit is amazing -- I have seen other body kits before but never as well constructed as the MS kit and with top qulaity materials.

Hey RXhusker, have you measured your MS kit clearances with the drop from the JICs?

I haven't had time to put the front bumper on yet -- I have been waiting for the JIC springs to fully settle (heard 200 miles was recommended) so I could get the ride height adjusted properly -- don't want to scrape on the curb leaving my driveway When I first put the JIC's on I had the back too low and hit the exhaust guard -- don't want to do that again. I think the MS front bumper is less than an inch lower than my stock with the apparance package so it shouldn't be too big of an issue. I will post up my final setting when completed -- probably in two weeks -- leaving soon for a little fun in the Valley of the Sun :D

well evidently he's full of $hit because suddenly as I went to click the order button for my sideskirts I realized that the price is suddenly up another $50... I wrote him a message to see if he would still honor the lower price but did not hear anything as of yet

There's a big difference between a $50 increase and $1722.

It might have gone up, but not to the point that was shown at the beginning of this thread.

The ms Kit is nothing to jump for joy about! This increase does suck regardless for those that were planing on purchasing this kit.
Personnal choice amemiya, i just hope they don't follow this infilation trend making me save longer then actually needed.
