mazdaspeed?

so i was in japan last summer for my high school graduation trip. My girlfriend and I went to the tokyo tower and saw this rx8 sitting outside. WOW i loved it and it mades me wanna sell my wrx and get an rx8. I just have one question. I have a lot of knowledge when it comes to cars and which parts are on them and so forth. So i already knew that the rear wing was a mazdaspeed wing. But why is it so tall? I actually love the look and wanna know where i could get the tall version of the wing. If you look closely you can see that it looks like 2 sections were just bolted on to make it stand higher. It isnt the first time i have seen it either. I have an rx8 in initial D ver.3 that has the same wing.

If you want that high a spoiler, I would go with a carbon fiber JSP or something like that. That looks just weird to me. It does look like they took extra braces and bolted them together to make it higher. It looks like he has a small spoiler at the top of the rear window also.

I'm not a fan of that look. Or the "Type S" emblem that he stuck on there.

lol are you serious? The type S badge comes like that from the factory in japan. Its the high end model which is pretty much the same as ours but with more horsepower due to higher octane levels how did you not know that!?

have you looked at the quality of those? They are universal anyway. its looks like a wing that wishes it could be on the back of a D1 Grand Prix car. kinda reminds me of APC when they were still big in the industry. The MS spoiler is very very clean looking. And its different to see one that sits a bit taller, its a little more aggresive

RX8, Type S? I'm not very familiar with the JDM, so if that's stock then I'm wrong. But that just seems so...WRONG! Like putting Mugen on the 8 or something. Maybe some Civic will have Mazdaspeed on it, and a Toyota with Nissmo?

The wing looks like if it catches a side draft, it'll tear the trunk off.

actually there is nothing wrong with calling it that. type s has nothing to do with mazdaspeed in anyway. you would be surprised if you went to japan. A lot of performance cars over there have badges that you would never see over here. Like the vitz/yaris. Over in japan, the vitz has its own badging and logo. its just like the skyline gtr vspec or v spec II. just cause it is v-spec doesnt mean that it has any affiliation with nismo what-so-ever

you must be right about the side drafts and trunks tearing off. I see trunks with wings attached all over the place!

FYI, the those brackets that lift the spoiler a tad higher are made by Feast-Power. There are tons of 8's with those on in this JDM specific thread.....
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...5&page=1&pp=15

Note the blue 8's trunk lid...

I mentioned JSP because it was the first thing that popped into my mind to use as an example. I personaly do no like it because it is so tall for how small the spoiler is. It just looks disproportionate to me. What it boils down to is the fact that it is your car. You are the one that has to be happy with the way it looks. I was just giving my worthless opinion. F what I or anyone else thinks. If doing that will put a smile on your face every time you look at the car, then do it.

I've never seen another 8 with a 'Type S' badge on it. And I've seen a lot of pictures of 8's in Japan when searching for various parts that are only available there. Odd.
