thats sexy!!
|
If you are going to put the time (and money) into the car why buy such a sh*tty bodykit to start?
Save yourself the trouble and do not buy an ebay body kit, search around here and get something higher in quality |
Ya. you best start off with a better kit. You don't want to throw money into something that still looks like a ricer in the end. Get a kit that has proven itself. I know it's been beaten to death, but a MS kit is going to look the best with the least work....
Also, I wouldn't get rid of all the lights... I see no reason too. |
Unless you have a bunch of decals all over your car like the SpeedSource RX8, Matte black will not look good...

But still if it was me. I wouldn't. I'd save that money and do something else... Maybe just save it and make the car last.... a really long time. Get it painted a few years down the road... idk... buy an rx7..... I wouldn't go out and drop 10k on making a car look mediocre. |
Dozer: That's not a flat black paint job, it's just gray primer. The guy couldn't afford to paint his car right away, after buying the kit and having it installed. Eventually he had enough money for the paint job, and here is a picture that shows the car painted Brilliant Black Metallic.

^^^ looks like the Decepticon logo...
|
wow flat black RE Amemiya hood, reasserts itself as the best looking hood for the 8...
|
now if you make it look like that rx8 i would say go for it! that 8 is just sick!!
|
Matte black is sick, but how can it be properly maintained though... like is there a special way of cleaning them and stuff
|
Ive always wondered that as well, you cant wax it, until I found out that a vast majority of matte black cars are actually covered in vinyl...

I concur. The following is a properly matte black paint.
http://www.tremek.com/gallery/data/500/DSC01320.JPG I want a Matte White (satin) paint job....pure awesome sauce and unique. The problem is Matte/flat/satin colors are EXTREMELY hard to lay down since you can't wet sand and polish like normal paint, so you can't get dust/dirt in the paint during the spray. Still worth it tho IMO |

^Ya I saw that Lambo too!
I think Lamborghini charges $30K to customers for it, but if you could do it on your own it wouldn't cost as much. It's just such a cool and unique look- you see many Satin/Matte white cars except for Lambo's and Bently's or the like |
yeah you say that it wouldnt cost that much, but believe me matte and satins arent the easiest things to maintain and the longevity of the color and surface finish is very short, so Lambo has to mix in very temperate hardeners to ensure that the paint last and those hardeners arent cheap and arent easy to apply,,, Its an extremely delicate proccess when done right. I suspect most of the moeny goes into the hands on craftsmanship needed to pull something like that off...
|
yup... that price is probably mostly labor

EDIT- Im wrong about it being the RE Amemiya hood,,, Its the same design but it still has the oe rotor accent, the RE hood does not... |
they do make a satin clear coat for matte paint ive never used it but i know its been used on carbon fiber to pass it off as dry carbon
|
I believe the matte color will show any light swirls or scratches. I really wonder how they wash it...
|
:boring: another person saying they're going to paint it matte black but in all likelihood won't? i have yet to see anyone come on here and ask about it and then actually go through with it but plenty of people ask people for their opinion on what it would look like acting like they have any real prospects of doing so.

These looks great. Does anyone with a TiG have these on their car in either Gunmetal or Matte Silver?
|
Wrap it in vinyl if you're going to do matte. It will cost you some where around 2000-3000 for a quality wrap including taking apart certain parts for better fitment.

The wheels are pretty nice indeed, I was also wondering what brand they were when I saw them. |
The matte colour base looks really sick!
Question: Would the surface of the car heat up more since its absorbing the sunlight directly without the reflective surface? How does this type of paint job do against snow and salting.. lolz... we up in Canada get lots of the white stuff..... But other then that....I think the matte black/white is definitely an agressive look...Bump! ________ Rhode Island Medical Marijuana |
i want to paint my car like dozers first post lol on tis thread

Found a new flat black 8 on the net. This car has a few features I planned on doing for my car so it is cool to see it done.

You gotta wonder how difficult it is to keep that looking good. It's either got to be a pain in the ass or super easy. What's going on in that first pic? Looks like a cat walked all over it. Either that or it's water... or fingerprints...
Either way, it's pretty bad ass. I Especially like the satin finished carbon fiber hood. (That is, if it really is carbon fiber and not a wrap-job.) |
Unless RE makes a CF bumper then it is most likely a wrap. I've always thought it would be a cool idea for 8's with a CF hood to add a CF layer onto the front part of the bumper.
|
Does anyone know a ballpark number for a typical vinyl wrap?
|
This car looks amazing PDX, I have to aggree with you that its a wrap, if there were making this outta real CF they would probably decided one way or the other to match the sides, either all gloss(sideskirts are a CF part) or all matte...
Regardless the car looks amazing and this Monster Garage seems to making great 8,,,, heres a widebody that I found in a Super GT thread... http://h.imagehost.org/0595/3660089306_df8cd80703.jpg |
sort of looks like a batmobile.

Modern matte paintjobs are the same as a regular gloss finish require prime, basecoat and clearcoat. The only difference is the clear has a flattening agent in it that dulls the shine. The more added the less the shine. Thats why you see some matte cars have more of a gloss then others.
The paint can be washed and takin care of just like any other paint type.. Regarding the $30k lamborghini paintjob all youd be paying for is the name that did it. I can spray the exact same paintjob for a helllllll of alot less. matte only costs a little more than a regular paintjob. |

you can put a flattening agent in the clear coat, so you can clean and wax the paint as normal paint, it'll just never be glossy.....
....or so i've been told:fingersx: |

love matte colors
|
