my favorite style of lambo doors
is the enzo doors they flip out and towards the front.
but i applaud someone trying to make stuff for our car and not a universal stuff that we have to hack to make it work. my 8 is more for show and it will giv me a edge and be some what nice.
i agree there are a bunch of civic, integra that have gonne to far on this, even trucks,
actually let me get a pix
brb

I wouldn't put them on if you gave them to me and paid for the install. I love the suicide doors. I love that fact the front door opens to almost 90 degrees. Sports cars are hard enough to get out of. Plus, my wife would kill me (Thats the main reason)!

When you finish producing the Lambo doors, how about creating some SL esque gullwing doors? At least you could get out of the damn thing.

BTW, you should create a manual and an automatic door. I know from Motor Yachts that automatic doors=problems! Nothing like getting locked in your car. You would definetly take best in show then! My 2 cents. Good luck with your creation.

thanks mikeb

started the project on the lambo doors yet ?
the gullwings will require welding
my friend did it to a show truck yrs ago
came out nice just had to weld to the roof.
but those are a pain to get in and out in a garage.

How do you keep the your cd's or other stuff from falling out of the door pockets when you open the Lambo doors? Doesn't sound to practical to me for an everyday car. Especially when I park in a garage and would hit the ceiling with my door every time I opened it. Too bad someone couldn't make a door that slides to the side like on a minivan.
Just kidding about the mini van comment but it would help in clearance issues.

I figured I'd post here too. If you get the scissor doors would it effect the rear doors?

This kit will be custom designed exclusively for the 2004 RX-8. I will be working with experienced mechanical engineers and fellow electronic & computer engineers to design a state-of-the-art lamborghini door conversion "bolt-on" kit.

However, before making this kit too extreme, I would like to inquire on how many people would be interested in a kit like this. I have researched other kits on the market and so far there are only universal kits available for the RX-8. They require body shop experience and your own "ingenuity" to install. These generic kits may have many unforseen obstacles and were never designed with the RX-8 in mind. Unfortunately, Decah, the founders of the original VDC (Vertical Door Conversion) kit cannot justify building a kit yet as there's not yet enough demand.

I am planning on embedding some "smarts" into the kit so that it will have the capability of having the doors automatically open with the push of a button. Also, I will integrate the keyless entry remote in with the system so when you unlock a door (or both) using your remote, the vertical doors will automatically open up slow like (and MTVs "pimp my ride like" ) from up to 30 yards away.

Anybody interested? We plan on taking our time designing the kit using several computer design toolsets to do the job right. I can post pictures of the finished product.

Also please let me know if anyone has any other ideas I can integrate in with the kit. Thanks!

This is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm in too is this still in production?

This is what it would look like. Lambo front doors and suicide rear doors.

Note that side view pictures are almost never shown on suppliers' sites - that would make people realize that you can't properly get into the car anymore.

Heres my 2 bits.

I've looked into this for quite a while, and ofcourse i've wanted them.

Its going to be about 3,500 automatic w/install (then i suppose you'll need shaved handles so it actually looks good.. u click the pop then the automatic so it pops up for you.. otherwise it'll be sorta odd, so theres another 1,500)

Regardless of all that, i think i'd go for it but just 1 thing.. the 1 flaw with the rx8..

IT HAS THE DAMN WINDOW PANEL .. you kno when you open the door.. its not just the door its the whole top frame of the window .. yea .. if that wasn't there it would look 20 times better!

they should def do that for the new 8 ..

Depends on who you're asking... I, for one, think that having framed windows is actually one of the virtues of the RX-8 compared to other sporty cars.
One (but certainly not the only) reason I did not buy the G35C was the presence of the damned frameless windows. I had cars with them, and they are a pain in the butt. Adjusment problems, wind noise, worn-out mechanisms that make them not to close perfectly... you name it.
I LOVED the fact that the 8 has proper framed windows - but I'm not looking at the show factor as my primary concern.
