Thumbs up Installed the appearance package!!

Hey all,
It took my brother and I 7 hours!! It was a lot of work and worry....but the end result is awesome. This is the one option I wished I had installed when I bought the car. Anyway...here it is...

What do you guys think....?

Do you have a DIY? I've been contemplating this for my Nordic Green.

Nice job! At least from this distance it looks great... :D

Did you get a good deal on the parts? What tools were required? As mentioned earlier, is there a DIY on this?

Hey all,
There is no real DIY on this install. I will say the instructions are great and if followed the install is easy enough. The part I was worried about the most was drilling into sheet metal....well, it turned out to be a piece of cake. You drill 1 hole in the rear inside wheel well. No sweat. Also, the front bumper had to come off, but that took a few screws and about 10 minutes to do.

Basic tools are required...drill w/ bits, screw drivers, isoprophyl (sp?) alcohol and plenty of time. I am very happy I did the install myself.

As for price...I bought all the parts from Rosenthal. Total cost $864 for everything including s&h. The parts were in stock and arrived via UPS in no time.

I recommend anyone tackling this install themselves. Save some money and get to know your car better. I am proud of the install and frankly think my brother and I did a better job than a tech would.

Looks great! I too was contemplating this install myself, but with little free time I had just contacted me dealer last week to inquire about them installing instead. After reading your post,I may try to tackle it myself some weekend. I read that you said you had to remove the front bumper. Was this to install the front air dam? And why was it that it needed to be removed?
That was the only thing that I read in your post that concerned me.

Good job man! What exactly did you install. I assume the front air dam, side deflectors and rear deflectors. What about strakes?

Wish the weather was better here so that I could get cracking on that.

Irish, just a couple more questions...

1. What would you estimate the added weight was on just the appearance package (air dam, side & rear flares)? When I bought my 8 I decided against the appearance package because I knew I could always add it later and to keep from adding unnecessary weight (at that time, anyways).

2. If you had the rotary accent package already installed on a non-appearance pkg vehicle, what would happen to it once you were ready to put the new front air dam on? Is it transferable, or would you have to buy a new front accent?

Thanks for the tips.

Your front rotary symbol is stuck on with 2 way tape and 2 screws onto the grey plastic part of the front bumper. The appearance package front air damn actually replaces that entire section of black plastic rather then just slapping something over top of it - so you would have to try and remove the rotary symbol with some solvents probably and get some new 2 way tape.

congrats on the install irish!

MI-FamilyMan....no idea on weight. It's not much. If I was guess...Front air dam = 15lbs / Side flares = 5lbs / Rear flares = 5lbs. PrOber answered your second Q perfectly. It was not difficult to remove the front rotary accent and reinstall on the new dam.

If any of you decide to tackle this install, PM me if you need help/advice. I will be glad to help via phone.

Sillygrl10....not quite. Everything makes sense and is well laid out. However removal of some body parts are required and there is drilling involved. Plus, I am very ****!!

dazygirl415....thanx!! I am happy with the end result. I will be at the next meet for sure.

Irish, could those be bought separately or you have to buy the whole appearance package? The reason why I am asking is that I would like to get Front air dam and rear flares but put mazdaspeed side skirts.

TIA
