Forgive the vague title but my idea is...I want to paint my RX8 white because I just love the color but I want it where at certain angles you can see a hint of royal blue. Kinda like the Kameleon paint effect. Has anyone seen this or can it even be done. Thanks.

 

No I havent seen it but yes it can always be done if you have the cash

A good paint job is gonna run you anywhere 2500.00 and up

 

I've wondered about the rage extreme paints, ( www.rage-extreme.com ) they do a nice purple to green. Was quoted 2800 GBP for a re-spray.

Wondered how they did it, would they strip all the panels down and srpay everything, so in the door sills and under the hood etc would end up the same colour?

 

as mentioned before, it can be done, but how think is your wallet? or do you know someone well enough to look after you on that?
white base isnt the best colour for pearl. especially blue. with blue pearl on top of white, it makes it an off-white.

yes, to do a proper full respray, you will have to strip everything...... see this thread for some pix :D

EZZY...was that a typo or a freudian slip? :D Maybe you can photoshop the suggested combo for him. Painting white over royal blue to generate a mild blue hue might look mighty awful...just can't visualize it.

 

its called a tri coat paint job I THINK, i seen a white eclipse and in certain angles it had a green pearl hue but still can see its white.

 

blue pearl over white. i've seen this one paint job, kind of hard to describe. the first layer is white, but then the top layer is finely crush glass. the glass reflects whatever color its near, so its got all sorts of colors at a different angle. you really have to see it in person. anyone know what i'm talking about~!?

hey everyone thanks for the feedback. Sorry I couldn't provide any pictures or photoshops but it seems Dookie has the jist of what I'm talking about. I'm gonna do more research and later on I'll repost and let you guys know what I've found.

 

My friend paid $5k on the kameleon paint job on his RX7... looks fantastic, but jeez, $5k?
