How To Remove Headlights?!?!

I was installing my new parking light led's and when I got the driver side in, all the wigglin that I did to get it in caused the led to fall off in the housing. I searched for headlight removal and such but couldnt find anything. Please help I need to get it done before dark falls.

Pull the front bumper. Its the only way.
There are about 10 8mm bolts along the lower front edge, 8 plastic clips inside each fender well on the trailing edge of the bumper, two screws that hold the marker lights and 4 10mm bolts on the upper rad support under the plastic cover. Disconnect your fog lights (if you have them) and pull.
Then the headlamps are held in with 4 or 5 10mm bolts each.
The whole job takes me about 1/2 hour, but YMMV.

I "tried" to install new parking lights and they're a bitch to get to.
I have to pull the bumper off this weekend to do some other mods so
I'll take a few pictures for you.

Well I found my way around it. I have a small magnetic rod that I put in there and it latched onto the led with no problem so I finally got it out.

Im guessing your bulb that fell off was on the driver side :Wconfused I don't see how you got that rod in the passenger side. I had trouble just putting my fingers in there to twist the light out.

2Xrotary 04-21-2006 02:45 PM

Yeah, it was the driver side thank god. I looked at the passenger side but then I gave up, and will wait till the weekend to attempt it.

NVMYGT 05-06-2006 11:41 PM

Thanks Niel...that would be gr8....i think i lost a pound of flesh trying to get my fingers in there...and the passenger side - what a bi**h!!

chasingthedragon 08-11-2006 06:31 PM

i think it easier to do it with the bumper off LOL and probably quicker since my fingers are still attached

NgoRX8 08-11-2006 06:34 PM

i have to use the tips of my index and pointer fingers to get the passenger side in... and my hands are small. haha

Whoa whoa whoa guys.... no need to take off the bumper or remove the headlights at all........ :mdrmed:

1) Jack up the front of the car
2) Remove the 3-4 tabs of the fender liner behind the headlight area
3) Pull back the fender liner plastic

Voila you have full access to the back of the headlights...

Removing the bumper will make it a hundred times easier.

Im not messing with the HIDs just the little parking lights so Ill try the fender first.

The Reverend 09-11-2009 04:18 PM

You can get to the parking lights from above in the engine bay if you eye it correctly.

Spinning Sushi 09-12-2009 02:58 AM

Just be careful not to cut your hands.
