Nice car the 348, i have its turbocharged predecessor.
How would the rear passengers live with the roll bar anyway? The airbags etc may be a problem, as well as hazardous.
That's what scares me the most in the end... you can kill a chassis' rigidity and the car will still be ok to drive around town but cages may really be dangerous

Nice, been working on Ferrari's for a number of years, this 348ts is a fun toy.

The rollbar will be away from rear head area, padded, designed around the passengers space. All good, no need to be scared.... some like a safetycage, some don't.... I am survivalist, so cage will be stout.

+1 Support. He's taken an idea most of us have thought about even if just for a brief moment and committed to it. Honestly, this has the potential to be a disaster, and we all know it. But i personally am looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

True. High potential, yet confident it is under control, and will be just as good. Thanx on support.

Yes, 4 door roadster. Hardtop sits to side, until needed. And since I bought the car for a steal, I can part it out, and still make money, as the amount I want for the driveline, matches my investment

Could end up 2 door, if I run into issues, which I am doubtful of. In that case, would be less then my expectations. At worst then w the v8, its an intersting drift toy.

Car is coming along great, ordered tubing yesterday, and hope to have drivable in a few weeks. Just the undercarriage additions, should be sufficent, but to be sure, doing interior 'cage' structure. Had a few RX8 guys over yesterday, everyone loves it upclose, got 2, who would want to do it to their's, if we decide to do more then the 1.

Been considering doing this, but looks too "open" i still like the concept of maybe a targa top like the new corvettes. Good luck, go for the 4 door challenge! I'll be following this for sure...

+1 to this idea of the targa top. Maybe you can try that next after you get this one finished. I'd be even willing to do it to my car.

PS: Also if you are gonna make it a 2 seater then check out this pic. This is a rough draft done to a model, but you get the idea.

They had a targa-7 kit, I thought it was pretty lame.
I'm digging the 'vert build though, good luck!

All good, super energtic person, and just putting down my thoughts wasn't even tryn to make sentences correctly.

If when done, you are interested will build what you want. I'd do like the black rendering, but the challenge of 4/4 is so high.
Will build one targa if wanted. With undercarriage braces, new rails, would be good if B-pillar and rear roof left in.

No, but within a few it could be done, use the Merc transaxle from the 928s w an engine of choice. Problem would come into place with front weight, even with fuelcell, and such...

Yes I know you were being a smart ***. My shop builds crazy crap, just finished a driftcar for an Olympic swimmer. And are planning out an electric 88 fiero w a much better looking body, lengthened. Even considered going electric on the RX8, hiding the batteries was the hard part, use a 5 spd w the GE motor. Will be building more cars on propane, and maybe CNG. My 48; is set for propane through the TBI.

I like the black rendering, keep them coming. Problem is, from the underside, shortening the chassis 12" or 18" would be very complex, with roadster. Not impossible, but it would add a significant cost, but amazing. Would be like what I am doing, but the cage would go a step past it.

In your black pic the upper deck is exactly as I planned when going 2/2, but like Mazda, weld up the doors. The extra length would then dictate putting in a folding hardtop, and thats just too much time @moment.

Count me in. I'll load up this model in autocad and do some more rendering to help ya get some ideas.
