Lol, that's funny cause I heard a rumor that you had a sugar momma of your own.

There was a thread which probably got buried in the epic threads of 2007 about doing this. People used small rubber blocks to prop up the back of the hood but it only gave you about an inch of an opening.

People swore it worked while others said it was impossible and after pages of arguments, thermal diagrams, testing results and people waving around their college degrees I think it was just left to die.

what? spacers? u can do that for no more than 5 bucks at your average hardware store just get all four bolts matched and get some washers that match...

i just but washers on mine, i think it helps with keeping tje engine a bit cooler, specially on some nasty canyon uphills, u can see the heat seep up on your windshield from the crack at nite...

all u need are some wahsers

Flashwing's right I remember sitting back and watching that thread I even think RG got involved,, it was a pretty heated debate, with niehter side conseeding defeat, if you think it will help then do it if you thinks its a joke then just let it go,,, People arent doing this for the looks they're doin it in hope of lowering engine bay temps...

IMO, it looks like bad hood fitment. I would think it safe to say the owner would prolly get asked alot why the hood wont close. If looks weren't a concern I would also say just take the whole thing off. But again, that's just me.

I think it looks good on the Miatas but not good on the 8 now that I have seen the pix of it. But I'm not going to be a you know what and trash talk your 8 just cuz thats what you like.
Anyway If you have been stalking me that long and know me that well then you would know a member on here got a cf vented vis hood on his wb 8. When I seen that I was like oh thats the one I want can someone photochop it in winning blue? and it looked dam good. So thats what I'm getting for the summer.
But there will be people in that thread saying oh the fit ment is blah and oh the color dont look right blah blah blah what ever. But dont go ot on the topic.

if anyone is really thinking of doing this, use aluminum spacers instead of a stack of washers.

Gil, i say go with the CF vented hood like mine dude.

I think it looks good and my taste is fantastic. Oh and those Japanese ricers are trendsetters. Japanese engineers wouldn't have even imagined venting a hood like this...

I propose a group install of washers at my place as soon as spring rolls around.

i did that on my civic si back in 2002....

i think it looks better with cars that doesn't have as defined hood as ours, because the way our hood is shaped as a integral part of the design of the car, the lines get broken when you do that, especially around the A pillar, just looks kind of busy. on a civic its different because the hood isn't creased on the edge to give the appearance of thickness

oh yea, totally forgot, make sure your bolt isn't too long, i know it sounds stupid but i made the mistake of getting longer bolts than needed and i got inverted dents on my hood, i was young n stupid haha

if you're doing it for cooling, there's an easier way...

Personal opinion of course, but I'd rather have a hot motor. That just looks ridiculous. Now.....if my car was 100% track, then it wouldn't matter to me.
