Help Me Make My RX-8 Look Even Better!

Hey guys. First off, I am a car idiot. I know nothing. I can make computers and networks do magical things, but you stick a car in front of me and I can pretty much only wash/wax it, haha.

Anyway, I am looking at only making my baby look better. It is a 2006 "Galaxy Grey" RX-8 with the cloth seats inside. I am liking the blacks/greys mix for my baby. So basically, I was curious what mods you all would recommend in what order and what I would expect to pay for each. I have been looking at strakes, the mazdaspeed spoiler, and so on.

Any help/tips is appreciated. I think I know a couple guys out here who have done work to RX-8's before and they will help with all the installation!

Read and then read some more. I'm not being a smart ***, but it is the best way and then you can make your own decision and it will be somewhat informed.

OK how much should I expect to spend on those 3 thus far? Also, is installing the sidemarkers something a car idiot like myself can do or what?

clear corners are like $80
Tint will be $150-250 depending on where you go.
Springs are around $150 in order to get rid of that big wheel gap our car has up front. You can order those through our forum vendor DPE. www.dpeweb.com (if you're a 'car idiot' you'll need help with the install)

Then again if your car is always outside like mine, get Huper Optik tint which will end up being around 350$. Clear corners are extremely easy to install, there is a great DIY in the section on how to do it. Another thing I would recommend is fog lights if you dont have them. I think it makes the car much better looking. You could get a OEM set on ebay for 60$ roughly. Hope this helps!

ok where do i find more pics on th clear corners? Also i already have the Shinka edition. so how much rougher would the "lowering" springs make the ride. i know the Shinka rids stiffer than the normal 8.

not to high jack your thread but i have questions in the same line as you.
although I'm a wonder with computers and cars.

rims n tires can get expensive real fast because of tires cost but a good exhaust isn't too bad depending on what kind you buy

You can also take a look into the do-it-yourself boards and can look at the process of a install. Alot of the people that wrote the D.I.Y write ups did a good job with explaing and with pictures.

Go to the Multimedia area, & search for Clear Corners or google " RX8 Clear Corners " Should have no problems tracking down an image

I like this person's thinking...

I also think the stock amber side markers look a lot better than clears on Galaxy Gray. You can save that money and put it towards a tint job.

OK. Here's the final cut of what I will be doing in the next month (or 2):

Stainless Steel Fender Strakes ($150):
http://rx8-accessories.com/rx8-accessories.html

Rear Rotary Accent OEM ($70):
http://www.rx8strakes.com/index.asp?...PROD&ProdID=23

Rear Bumper Inserts Chrome Plated ($70):
http://www.rx8strakes.com/index.asp?...PROD&ProdID=20

Front Rotary Accent Polished Stainless Steel ($35):
http://www.rx8strakes.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=146

Front Oil Cooler Guards ($35):
http://www.rx8strakes.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=104

JDM Clear Corners w/ Stealth 194 Bulbs ($90):
http://www.mazdaparts.com/ProductDet...000-1151625400

RX-8 MazdaSpeed Wing - Primed ($630):
http://www.mazdatrix.com/getprice.as...m=51-96ZA-QSEA

Tinted Windows ($150)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now the tinted windows thing I need to call on and I took a guess in the dark but I was recommended by some locals to go here: http://www.altamere.com/tint.htm

Now I was curious about which tint I should go with. I am just going with a black tint to darken my windows so I didnt know if any of these types really are better than the others. Thanks on that.

Also, I have been recommended by a local to bring my spoiler to a Mazda dealer near me that may paint it for me. Any idea what I should expect or what price I should be pushing to find somewhere? Thanks!

Personally, I would skip all the metal accent stuff... it all looks so tacked on. I gotta agree with the first couple of posts: clear corners, tint and lower it. You can tack on all the crap you want but if it's still sitting on that stock 4x4 suspension (especially the front) it still looks stock. Besides, suspension upgrades not only look great but they improve the handling of the car (if done correctly).

The lowering with springs is nice, if you have no speed bumps and shitty streets to worry about.
