They don't look any wider than OE. I intend to clip out the lower rear valance like that though, maybe add a diffuser section.
It turns out the Grand Am body is made by Downing/Atlanta, not Speedsource. I'm not surprised as anything they do is both aesthetically pleasing and functionally top notch. I may contact them and see what can be done. Probably won't be cheap. I must have been looking cross-eyed at the pricing previously. The rear fender panel is $1250 each side in fiberglass and $1550 each side in CF. Those are tube frame panels that go all the way to the rear door, roof line, rear window, and trunk opening though. So it's a much more complicated piece to fabricate than what I'm after.
I want flares my brother found a shop here in az the that does carbon fiber for cheap said they will do a roof for an 4 $100 with clear fully done so I'm thing if it the panspeed a custom fender flare. I get what your looking for in a fender flare.
im going to experiment with fiberglass over the summer hopefully, ive always liked the feed fenders for the rx7 how the tire is exposed and im going to try to do something like that. of course it will be wider, but first id have to get the hang of it. Same goes for the rears, something similar to the panspeed except with a notch like the feed rx7 fenders.
bump, finally pulled the trigger on a pair of Panspeed rear flares
still having a problem finding anything for the front since the rules only allow us to cut/add, but not replace the whole fender. Can't believe there isn't any decent front over-fender for the Series 1 RX-8, just a lot of half-baked ugly crap. There's more for the Series 2 even, can't quite figure that out since they didn't make that many compared to the S1.

At least the panspeed fenders have gotten a little cheaper. should be able to pull the fenders a little extra too once you cut them, to get even a little more out of them.
They shipped already (Japanparts.com has awesome service) and the paperwork says NEW GT SERIES REAR OVER FENDER Panspeed rear fenders. I had heard there was a wider version they were using, but not selling, and am wondering if they ended up revising them?
After reviewing the thread linked below I may just let a custom body shop do the front fenders properly
I'm struggling with the looks of these, but not many options otherwise. I can't understand why they didn't at least blend in the front side since they extended it all the way down the front bumper side.

Yea, I like japan parts. I got all my stuff from them. They have a generalized shipping service too that handled my seats. They handle auction and merchant services for you. MyJapanBrand
Yea, the race parts are wider. I wonder if they could be the wider flares. You should be able to get about 20mm per side by shaving the inside lip off them, but you can get more if you pull the fenders out some too. We'll see. i wish my body shop would hurry up. It's going to be time for the motor soon, and I have wiring etc to do.
As far as I can tell they’re still the same flares as before. Haven’t tried to fit them yet though. My kanji skill isn’t so great still, but can read enough to see from the Japanese installation literature that they only claim a 10mm gain per side. The inner lip is super wide though, almost 2”. It’s clear from the photos of the Panspeed car that they cut that back to almost nothing out where the tire might contact it.
Based on the fender flare being 10mm wider, cutting the flare inside lip back, and eliminating OE fender lip which is 3/4” - 1” wide results in maybe about a 1.25” - 1.5” total increase from the inside edge of the factory rear fender lip. Which I had previously run 10.5” wide +43mm offset wheels and cleared the unmodified OE rear fender lip. So I’m hopeful that the rear flares will be able to work with up to a 12” wide wheel.
