Headlight and Taillight tint

Looking for the best method for headlight and taillight tinting...I knows theres the film which seems good...and then theres the spray...my friend just put on the spray and it actually came out very good...Is there a way to take it off if i don't like how it looks?

The spray is essentially paint. Once it's on, it's on. The only way to get it off there would be to sand and then buff the clear plastic you scratched back to a shine.

i had mine professionally painted. it wasn't spray tint out of a can but actually like a black candy coat. i'm sure you can use paint thinner or something similar to take it off.

If you use lacquer thinner you would melt the plastic housing and leave it smeared. In the event that you would want to remove it id suggest sanding with 2000 grit and then buffing with meguiars plastiX. I'm actually trying to do the same but I'll give the film a try first.

paint thinner doesn't work... i tried. it just makes the housing really dull. you have to wetsand it (2000 grit) and polish it.. and it's a bitch to do, so just make sure you do it right the first time

VHT Nightshades is what i used on my tail lights and it can out great. and I messes up a lil bit cuz when i was painting them it was windy so the paper stuck to the light so i had to take it off. I used gasoline to take it off and it worked very well. But you have to make sure to clean off all the gas and let it dry before painting it again. ill post up a pick so u can see how it looks.

I bought the VHT Nightshades at Car Boutique. But i also heard you can get it at a regular auto store. Like Murrays Discount Parts or Auto Zone. Or you can also go to this website and buy it there. $10.95 is a great price!!! I spent $17 a can. And yes it is spray (as you can see in the picture on the website) lol.

I bought 2 cans just in case. but I think you should be fine with just one (if you dont mess up). and no its not the darkest it tints. i only put on about 3 or 4 coats. If you were to put on more coats it will get darker. I just wanted to tint them a lil bit but u can go as dark as you want and light will still shine through. I did my friends Civic and he wanted them real dark. So i put about 5 or 6 coats on and they still lets light through. but when the back of the car is facing the sun and you hit the brakes its hard to see. So be careful not to put to much. I say about 4 to 5 coats should be enough. And be sure to buy 2 cans if you want to do that.

Ya no prob. With the head lights. I was planning on doing it too. But when you put the tint on the light. Driving at night will suck. There will be barely any white light coming out of there. My Friend did his head lights on his Mustang. He said it was the worst thing he has ever done. He couldnt get the paint off the head lights either because he had to use his brights to actually see anything at and he baked to paint onto the lens. So he had to get whole new head lights for his Mustang. so i dont recommend doing the head lights.

lol I know. It does look sick. But night driving is the only downfall. And i do alot of night driving so headlight tint is out for me. but i do recommend using the tint on your Amber Side Markers. I tinted mine instead of getting Clears. It looks sick on a Brilliant Black 8. lol. Oh and one more thing. If you do use the VHT Nightshades. Make sure EVERY coat is COMPLETELY DRY before putting on another coat. This is VERY important. If the paint wont be dry then the paint will come out mate. If every coat is dry. It will be as shinny as a freshly washed and waxed car. Just wanna make sure yours come out great like mine did. haha

Heres a picture of the Tinted Side Markers that I did. And I also painted in the eye lids with the VHT on the head lights. It doesnt go over the light but gives it a different look. Just some suggestions for you.

Ya thats my 8. That pic of the sidemarkers is a couple months old. I painted my stock rims black now. So my whole car is basically black. All i have to do now is get the windows tinted and ill be set to blend into the night. Haha
Heres a pic of what it looks like now.
