Smile Headlight oxidation

I did some searching, but I might have used wrong keywords for my issue or something, but I didn't really find anything.

My headlights are rather cloudy and I was wondering if anyone has fixed a similar issue without replacing the headlights. I saw some commercial for Fast Brite or something that claims to fix this exact issue but I can never trust anything off TV (anyone used this before?).

Thanks

I used Meguiar's PlastX with great success. My headlights were dingy, but they look like brand new now.

2nd the turtle wax suggestion, just used it on Sunday. Like $9 and works great and no drill required to buff it out just a cotton cloth. Also don't forget to tape off the lights so you don't get any of the chemical on the your paint.

i just used mothers headlight kit and it worked great. pretty cheap, and you can use it more than once. it comes with a polishing ball you put in a drill, the chemical, and a microfiber

I used a kit from NAPA and it worked fine... also works well to repair scratched audio cd's.

Thanks guys!

I'll be sure to head up for a local store to pick up the turtle wax product and let you know if it worked.

If all you have is oxidation you do not want to use any process that involves abrasives.
3M is a resurfacer
It works by cutting into the surface. While this removes oxidation it also dulls and damges the UV layer.

That may not be so bad if you did not have to repeat the process each time oxidation builds back up but over time abrasive cleaning will cause more damage to the lens than the oxidation itself.
In reality oxidation on acrylic headlights does not cause any damage, it's a topical build up of matter on an acrylic surface.

For surface damage you will need to get an abrasive headlight resurfacer
For oxidation you need to get a non abrasive acrylic lens deoxidizer

I just used the polish and sealer from blue magic and it worked better than Meguiars plus I did it by hand and didn't need the drill.
