have any one tryed to install 09 rx8 taillights to the older rx-8 ??

^ nobody tried that as far as I know... but that'd be the only way to fit the new lights properly to the earlier car.
I have a feeling that the mounting points of the bumper will be different enough so that it's not a straight swap.

definitely looks like my girlfriends 08 3. seriously guys the earlier taillights might not be the best but to put new tail lights on an older 8? thats an insult. youre making your car look like every other 3 and 6 out there. stick to the stocks. unless youre going blackout or aftermarket. just my opinion

Yeah I think so to the older stock tails look just fine to me. I mean another idea would be to gut the old stockers buy a set of 09 tails and swap the insides (baking the tails remove the seals for the lens, transfer the insides etc.) for a better fit. Just saying
