Getting the car painted

I'm looking to get the hood and the roof of my car re-painted as both show sun damage and the clear coat is starting to peel on the roof. Starting to drive me nuts!

I was just inquiring as to what you guys thought a decent estimate would be for both to be painted? I will be shopping around this week but don't know much about painting and cost.

So, in your eyes, what do you think a reasonable amount would be?

Thanks,
Michael

Same color should be around 3k for a quality job.

Wouldn't you want to have the whole car repainted to make sure that it's all color matched? I'm sure the rest of the car has faded to some degree.

you could just try to find a used one the same color in the FS section people are always selling hoods because they went CF, and you could just paint the roof a satin black or flat black,,, would be alot less than trying to blend everything back in,,,

+1. That would prob cost you like $500+ if you found someone locally with a hood.

Thanks for the responses guys - Like the idea of maybe just getting a local hood. Will look further into this.

I ended up paying $600 flat for the hood and the roof. It looks phenomenal. Had work done at this shop on my Stealth a few years ago and am very happy with their work from that. My dad knew the owner from way back so I got lucky and they took care of me.

My dealerships' body shop gave me an estimate of $1300 with employee discount, so as stated by others, actual price will vary greatly depending on where you go.

Thanks for the input gentlemen.

My paint is costing me just over $4k. But that is with the doors and panels taken off, custom paint everywhere but the engine bay, with many coats and wetsanding or buffing between every second coat (or somesuch.) I did get a quote for the full car in VR (which is a three-stage paint) in the high threes.
