Front License Plate?
Just wanted to know if you kept your front plates on or not. I'm still waiting for my plates from the DMV, but I plan on having it on.

I got pulled over yesterday for speeding... And also got a ticket for no front license plate... I think I got the ticket for no front plate because I was speeding, but I still gotta ticket... Going 97 in a 65, doing that on 45... I almost hate how smooth this car is on the highway, not using that as an excuse but seriously I thought I was going 80...

I've seen someone on here placing it down low off to the right. But I've been unlucky with our law officers and I just don't want to add fuel for them.

Mine is off, but I have a set of bolts / nuts / washers in my trunk so I can mount it if, say, I'm parking on the street during the day or driving to an airport. Basically, I run the long bolt through the plate, then through the lower part of the front grille. Then I put the washer on from behind the grill and screw the nut on.
Recently, I'm getting annoyed with this because I it's a bit of work to attach it and sometimes the nut gets stuck when I try to take it off. I'm planning on making a permanent bolt fixture that uses a cotter pin to hold the plate on instead of nuts. This will have less of a chance of the plate falling off due to loosening of the nuts under vibration, it will be quicker to put on, and it will give a little better placement option since I'll need to drill into the solid part of the plastic grille. Hopefully I can avoid the buck-tooth look by placing the plate more in the center of the grille.

I haven't put my front plate on since I got my plates in the mail (October '06). Personally, I think it looks like crap with it on. So I just keep my plate in the trunk. The only time I'd put it on is if I'm going to be in a public parking place for a loooooong period of time. Otherwise, forget about it!
I have a friend who has kept his front plate off for nearly 7 years... and he has yet to be pulled over for it. *knocks on wood* Heh.
Besides, it's only something like $25-$35 ticket... big deal?

I've got mine sitting in the trunk with a socket wrench and a screw driver. The only time I ever put it on is when I cross the boarder into Canada - mostly for the trip back into the states. The Canadian boarder gaurds have never said anything about no front plate but the US gaurds commented twice on consecutive trips back into the states. Damn boarder gaurds. Last thing you ever want to do is **** one of them off. They can make your day get Very Bad(tm) if they want to.

I got a ticket here in Northern Illinois last spring for no front plate ($75) from a State Trooper who lives within a few miles of my house and apparently (from talking to another State Trooper I know) enjoys pulling over sports cars with no plates. So I had to suck it up and put the plate on - I did also go to court to fight the ticket and got it thrown out since I could prove I had put the plate on (showed a pic) but I know this moron will nail me again the second I take it off...so it stays on for now...sucks...

Ya, the police officer that pulled me over had a real "i'm the ****" attitude... Even though I know I was speeding, and got pulled over originally for that... I love it how they even have the audacity to stick their head inside my car, to check for "illegal stuff"
"Ya I know my 8 smells like pot, but since you're an idiot, you won't find it!"
I don't plan on putting my front license plate on still, just take the photo of it on...

haha, that's what happens when you trust a state trooper... I never trust officers... Even if on break... They aren't people to me, most of them are people that enjoy producing negativity towards others... I produce harmony within my friends/family, I don't enjoy being the venting point for people with problems...

I agree, but this was a friend who tried to get the ticket issued by the other guy dropped...as far as the jerk that gave me a ticket, I wasn't even moving - I was at a stoplight and he pulled up behind me, shot me with radar just sitting there and then pulled me over a block later. Just wanted to harass me...of course I see him around weekly, so I know he'd just nail me again if I took the plate off, and I doubt I could get the ticket thrown out a 2nd time.
