Exclamation Front bumper retaining screws loose

The wind deflector under my front bumper came loose?!?!

The screws had fallen out on a magazine long term test car. When I went to check mine, and 6 screws were gone! One that was still in was only finger tight. The panel had fallen down and wore through on the pavement. The wear is not too bad, about a 2" wide hole.

The magazine paid $175 for a new piece. I bought new screws at NAPA, and will just duct tape over the hole until I get a body kit.

My car is a late '04. I suggest that all owners check their retaining screws.

your right about the black insert screws some times pop in certain cases. when I went with the Ings front end I replaced mine with the kits found at auto zone.

Are you talking about the flat tray under the AC condenser & radiator? Assuming you've not had the piece off yourself or smacked it on hard objects, shouldn't the dealer replace it?

Loose screws

The dealer didn't replace it for free in the long term tester. I had some more screws come out today as I hit 77. Made an awful shuddering moise. Couldn't get the car over 35 MPh without the cover under the bumper peeling back and hitting the road. I was close to home and used some 200 MPH tape on it.

Worth asking anyway. If any other part just broke loose and got damaged, they'd cover it

I just discovered that three screws were missing from mine. Maybe I should add this to the list of items to check regularly.

I just tightened those screws when I had the nose off to install the REVi + cold air scoop. No lost screws yet... hope that the tightening will prevent this.

Does anyone know the spec on those screws? I know there are at least two different sizes in length. I could not find anything similar in a local auto supply store. Should I bring it in?

Mine were all the same length. The Racing Beat installation description was talking about shorter and longer screws but mine were all the same.
Sorry, I don't have access to my car right now (1500 miles away) to check what the specs for those screws can be.

Here is a picture of the screws that came out when I installed my front RB air-scoop.

I lost 8(!) of them when I first got the car, went and ordered some more from the dealer and replaced them. I haven't noticed any more missing since (the under-tray isn't drooping) but I haven't been under there to look lately.

The NAPA screws are still ther after a few months, but I am missing some clips, and am unsure about the long term durability of the tape.
