hey jedi54, how come you didnt use the refractor bulbs for the parking lights? i would assume those bulbs would light up better in the front?

Thanks Man for the information. I just have one quick question. ABout how long did it take you to get your bulbs in?
The PIAA Xtreme White are $60 bucks (eBay) and seem to not be worth it if they are roughly at the same temperature (4000K). The Hoens have a 1 year warranty and I think the PIAAs are not explicitly warrantied, although one club member got PIAA replacement bulbs (not fogs).
That isn't knocking PIAA though b/c my mom and friend have PIAA Xtreme White's in their VWs and they seem to be holding up and give out good white light--far better than the weak stock VW bulbs.
I am ordering the Hoen Xenonmatch H11 bulbs ($29.99). Shipping is $8.95 to California and no sales tax.
I will post pics when I get them installed. I am changing to clear side marker/corners and so I decided to do both if I am going to take out the wheel liners. Looking forward to the improvement over the sallow yellow of the stock fog bulbs.

I don't remember seeing a reflector in there, but I could be wrong...wasn't paying a whole lot of attention, was just trying to squeeze my hand in there to get the stupid bulb in.
Either way, it won't make much of a difference if there is or isn't.

hey jedi54......i just installed my parking LED's.....i just wanted to check with you guys how much u need to turn the socket for it to lock, cuz when i put mine in, i didnt have to turn it that much. it seems tight and holds, but im not certain if thats how its suppose to be. let me know
I am also going to try the Hoens, and I just ordered some. I had a set of AdvancedOptik HID match bulbs before (http://www.europeanautosport.com/optik.htm), and the Hoens seem pretty similar. I'll try to do a comparison of the two when I get them. I am also going to try the V-LED 6 LED and refractor LED for the sides. I've tried several LEDs for my parking lights, including the PIAA Xtreme White 6 LED (from Japan), and I wasn't too happy with them. You can see how blue they are in this thread.
By the way, you can easily replace the fog light bulbs without removing the wheels. Just jack the car up a little and remove a few screws from the plastic dust shield that blocks access. It's very simple to reach the bulbs once this is done.
Thanks to Jedi54 for the pics!
Edit: mattvit, the socket for the parking lights does not turn very much at all, when it locks in. Just give it a nice little tug after you lock it to make sure it stays.

In all seriousness though...they should work just fine.
