I thought these were all butt ugly bad ideas... until I saw your pics. I really like the lower-key black, especially with the strakes.

AUG!!!!... I tried doing this last night... but I messed up a big... I can fix it.. but in the mean time I gotta spend 20 bux to get a new vent but its not over yet im still working on it... Im using a dremmel I must say the plastic is hard to sand is not the best thing to work with... I also got to go to the store and buy some filler stuff for little pits etc... But After i finish this one grille I will check it out to see if i want to do the work on the other grille.

TO: Mazdaspeed RX8 ver2 -
Do you have some full-view photos of your car posted somewhere? How did you do the porthole-with-strake on the upper fender. VERY nice! I'd lke to see the whole car.

A screen door hot glued to your fender grille, of course.

So flies can't get into the fender. Counters the spiders in the taillight.

The directions hurt my brain just reading them. If I tried the mod I'd end up blowing up my car somehow...i know it

I think i'll be attempting this too. I'm not a fan of bugs, or spare water when it comes to being in places of the car it's not supposed to be, or at least where I don't want it to be, this is a good thread. I made one like it, with no luck on a start like. I searched, but i apparently used the wrong keywords

Glad i found this

Though I prolly won't do it for a while, I'm looking foward to putting it on my list of "To do" things.

But to make it fully functionable, should i use the same tools to cut through the wheel well?

No need - the vents are functional. They help vent hot air out of the engine bay, especially when you're moving. This mod should make it even easier for heated air to get through, since there's less stuff in the way.

The fender vents are surprisingly inexpensive. Get an extra set and go for it
