Fender Grill Lights

I was thinking about putting some leds, or neons under the side fender grills, and mabye wiring them to the blinkers. Has anyone done this, or does anyone have any ideas or suggestions.

Very easy to wire in since there's direct access behind the fenders.

I'd like to add some kind of side repeater to the car and this is one of the options that I've thought about. Check this site for some waterproof LED strips that would probably work well:

Thanks for that link, do you think, i want it to be bright coming out of there, so i think that it needs to be overkill, because the grill will block alot of it out, do you think that one of those 19" strips would be enough

Could I get in any trouble having red lights on the side, i know that i would be fine with blue, or white, or any other color, but i must use red, because my 8 is black.

Well, here is my little story.

I had Blue LEDs in my parking lights and as my rear license plate light.

When the blue led started to fail, it flickered, thus flashing, thus being illegal. (according to the local cop that pulled me over)

Later, after I removed the bulbs, replaced them with hyper white, and they burnt out a week later (separate issue) I was pulled over for the blue license plate light by a state highway patrolman.

Having blue lights displayed anywhere on the exterior of the car is illegal. (So it was stated) However, I think we reds, as long as they're not facing forward they'll be okay. Call your highway patrol to know for sure.

I also have B Black and would like to this, but I don't want the red lights behind the grills to be super bright, just an ominous red glow... I'd love to see a DIY to wire them into the main cabin light switch or something.

Wired into the corner lights you say?? Hmm... this wouldn't be too hard. I will have to look into this.

Feel like posting a brief DIY and I will add to it?
I am just curious as to where you tapped into the corner light wires, the path of your wires to your fender lights. How you attached the lights (were there good mounting locations or did you use double sided tape, etc)

I think this could be a fun mod. I'm on my way to building another rice rocket, I know it.

I've been tossing the idea around as well. I did a custom LED setup in the interior of the car. I wanted to put some in the fender vent, above the oil coolers and across the interior of the grill.

The only thing is...ITS TOO COLD! Until it gets in the higer 40's im not doing anything.

I have to refer LEDGlow. Those systems are awesome, and BRIGHT! I've been running their multi-color systems in my old car for 2 yrs w/o a problem.

Now the cheapest thing to do is buy the replacement 36in or 48in tubes and wire them yourself (easy to do).

When it gets warmer, I would love to make a DIY...b/c i <3 LED Lights.

HAHAH i was thinking that when i did it but i dont think it looks ricey and i am extremely picky with that and as for a DIY i would love to but i would ahve to make a better bracket or holder

i had 7440 red LED that i wanted to put in my tail lights but the werent bright so i eventually used them
i had the holders from an old car plugged them in and then used the holders from an HID kit i bought and put the bulb and holder in it and just zip tied it to part of the car the chasis has a few openings

(it was pretty cold like zero degrees in the garage plus it was at my friends house so we i didnt have my tool box with all my stuff to get too creative)

but it worked for now until it gets warm and i clean it up a bit

as for the wiring just wire taps to the corner bulb

its pretty simple not to crazy of a mod but it looks good LED strips would be better i think but mine was FREE lol so its all good
