so i decided to be a dum a** and try to paint my own eyelids onto my headlight and of course i messed it up ... then i took acetone and tried to remove the paint but damaged the light even more adding some like scuff marks to it ... so my question is to anyone who can help me what do i do now i dont wanna buy another light coz i just spend alot on new rims soo is there any way i can get the pain off an at least partially restore the headlight?

 

You might be able to take the approach they use for restoring them when they've just faded, though it really depends on the extend of the damage.

 

its really scuff makrs kinda thing i know i saw a thread here on using sandpaper and polish and at this point ill try it coz its fuc*** anyway but i cant seem to find it ... anyone???

nail polish remover maybe? Its weaker so maybe it wouldn't eat into your headlight like the acetone did, would hopefully just take you longer. Then you can try and restore the light

 

If you can not restore it then you could get some overlays.

 

^^ mm good idea i do have the black grey theme going so maybe ill do that i will try to restore it first though ... and ill post pics in a sec ...

 

A smoked color would look great.

 

here are a few pics ... its a little worse than the pics show but its the general idea fiancee has the camera right now so i cant get better pics till later ... but yea its messed up .. i can probably get the paint of with the acetone or nail polish remover but i will definitely be left with scuffs like this or worse

 

wetsanding then buffing always works if you do it right.

^ i know im dumb lol i never usually do stupid stuff but i say a car with it talked to the guy and he said his turned out fine had some spray paint left over (color matched) so i went at it unfortunately it didnt turn out too well! and i will try the wetsanding you have any idea of what grit to use and how to do it

Depending on how deep the scratches or scrapes are... But by the way it looks in the pics, I would use 1000 grit then 2000 grit. Polish with rubbing compound then finish off with meguairs PlastX which can be found at a local auto parts store (recommend buffer, but not necessary).

Let us know how it turns out. I'll be sanding off about three layers of tint from my headlights shortly and am interested in how yours turn out.
